There's a Plot, and It's Huge The storyline, so far, goes something like this: The year's 2028 on planet Earth. You are Caleb, a man who's been trekking a cold and chaotic world, seemingly sterilized by its own inventiveness for about the last 100 years (publisher GT Interactive likens the feel to Bladerunner or The Crow). Caleb's mission, decidedly a dyslexic's nightmare, is to regain his power over the Cabal, a "not evil, but amoral" cult he once belonged to, which kicked him and the other Chosen out, namely because Caleb destroyed the 16th incarnation of the Cabal god Tchernobog. Since the Cabal has essentially been around since before recorded time, many incarnations have existed. The present Cabal clan of the Blood 2 era is under the rule of Gideon; however, the godhead, Tchernobog, was the being that tried to destroy Caleb and the other Chosen in the first Blood title. Of course, if you finished the game successfully, he was the one found defeated. Confused? Keep reading. Since the Cabal was Caleb's source of power, he wants to regain it, and by recovering and employing the assistance of the three other Chosen, Ophelia, Ishmael, and Gabriella, he might be able to do that. They are available for you to resurrect immediately in the first level to join you throughout your mission. Apparently, the Cabal is holding an element of some sort, notably the final one, which you need to bring these characters back. So once you defeat the Cabal, which reportedly you do right away, you pick up this element, conjure up your posse, and get to work. The Chosen collective, once reunited, sets out take down the Cabal, with parasites and other disgusting beings wreak havoc all the while. The Cabal want to bring back the 17th incarnation, and The Chosen must put a stop to it. And, well, we won't ruin the ending. |
