Thank You... We know lots of fans turn to this page for the latest news. Where do we get our information? Turns out most of it comes from fans like you who hear about a show or TV appearance and e-mail us. So we just wanted to thank everyone who has sent us news. We could not keep this page up-to-date without your help.

Natalie Changes Management... Natalie has parted ways with her management company, Jon Landau Management. We don't know exactly when this happened or why. Her new manager is Gary Smith, an old friend of Natalie's and co-owner (with Billy Bragg) of Fort Apache Studios in Boston.

OPHELIA VIDEO: In Stores December 4? Apparently not.

Well we checked the local music stores today and did not find the Ophelia video. Looks like the Billboard article from yesterday was wrong when it said the video would be out today. Chances are the real release date is still December 8th. But apparently it is true that the Ophelia home video will also include the five music videos Natalie has made as a solo artist: Carnival, Wonder, Jealousy, Kind and Generous and Break Your Heart. Natalie confirmed that during on interview in Toronto on CFNY back in October. If anyone taped that interview, please e-mail us. We'd love to get a copy.

San Francisco: Radio auction for a private Natalie concert

Unfortunately we learned about this too late for it to be of much value but we'll post it anyway. According to Natalie fan extraordinaire Rowena, radio station KLLC (Alice) in the San Francisco area was holding a silent auction today to raise money for breast cancer research. The 15 highest bidders (and their guests) were to get a private concert with Natalie at Menlo Park. The concert would take place on one of the two days she will be in the area (she has 2 shows at the Paramount Theater in Oakland this weekend). The radio station's web site doesn't say anything about this. If anyone knows more, or if anyone is going to this private concert, please e-mail us with the details. Thanks.

TV Watch: Hard Rock Live this Saturday; Letterman Dec. 14th & 15th

Natalie's appearance on VH1's Hard Rock Live is scheduled for this Saturday December 5th, at midnight. The program repeats on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM (EST). The show features both Natalie and Lucinda Williams. According to the VH1 web site, the show will include Natalie doing the following songs: San Andreas Fault, Carnival, Ophelia, Last Goodbye (a Jeff Buckley song) and Kind & Generous. She did two other songs during the taping that apparently will not be included in the broadcast (Thick As Thieves and What's the Matter Here?. Poor Lucinda Williams gets just 3 songs.

According to the Elektra site, Natalie will appear on Late Night with David Letterman on her own on December 14th and will also be on December 15th singing a song with Billy Bragg (Way Over Yonder in a Minor Key from the album Mermaid Avenue).

Other recent TV appearances include: the Rosie O'Donnell Show and the Tonight Show, performing Break Your Heart on both. VH1's Storytellers, premiered on October 25th. If you missed it, it will probably be repeated. Check the VH1 web site or the Rock on TV web site to find out if it is being re-aired this week. Natalie's appearance on Sessions at West 54th Street has also aired already in most cities. If you missed it, check out the Sessions web site - they have some audio & video files from the show. MTV aired a special on the Red Hot + Rhapsody AIDS benefit album on December 1st, World AIDS Day. The special featured interviews and performances taken from a concert in early October in New York City celebrating the release of the album. Natalie was on peforming But Not for Me with Chris Botti. She was also included in several interview segments.

MAGAZINE WATCH: Utne Reader and Jane!

To prove once again what a unique artist she is, Natalie is featured in both the current issue of the Utne Reader and the December issue of Jane magazine. It is hard to imagine any other contemporary songwriter who would fit in the pages of both of those magazines. The Jane article is particularly interesting - 17 years of "I-don't-talk-about-my-private-life" out the window.

TOUR DATES: Far East Tour Cancelled Due to Illness

Natalie was forced to cancel her shows in New Zealand, Australia and Japan due to illness. The cancelled shows may be re-scheduled after the first of the year.

Natalie Online: You missed it, so did we!

Natalie participated in a chat on Friday from Ireland. The chat was sponsored by Yahoo and Seventeen Magazine, but they do not have a transcript up yet. If anyone knows more about this or has a log of the chat, please let us know and we can post it here.

Benefit Album News... Red Hot + Rhapsody

The latest album in the Red Hot series is Red Hot + Rhapsody, a collection of George & Ira Gershwin songs was released on October 6th. The Red + Hot album series benefits AIDS research. Natalie performs But Not For Me. The tempo is slower than one normally hears that song (big surprise) but not excessively so. The music is wonderful - Chris Botti on trumpet, Joel O'Brien on piano, Walter Booker on bass and Peter Yanowitz on drums. But what song Natalie is singing is anyone's guess!

Lyrics for Ophelia

We don't know why Natalie did not include a lyric sheet with Ophelia. But several Natalie sites have started to add lyrics. Keep in mind that everyone is just transcribing by ear so there are bound to be some mistakes.

You can check the following sites: Don's, Adam's, Frank's, The 119 Site, or the Internet Lyrics Site (search for Ophelia)

Natalie joins Billy Bragg and Wilco on Mermaid Avenue

Billy Bragg released an album of unfinished Woody Guthrie songs that he recorded with the band Wilco called Mermaid Avenue on June 23rd. Billy and Wilco wrote music to lyrics that Woody had written but never put to music. It is a wonderful album. Natalie appears as a guest vocalist on the song Birds and Ships and also sings backup vocals on Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key.

Video from Sessions at West 54th Street on the Web

Back in September 1997 Natalie appeared with Philip Glass on the PBS program Sessions at 54th West. They performed a song they had written together - a Latin poem that Natalie used for the lyrics. A brief video (Quicktime) of that performance can be found at the Sessions web site
