Welcome to the Warner Bros. Cartoon Companion!

Many of us out there are fans of the wonderful cartoons that were produced by Warner Bros. from the early 1930s to the early 1960s. Even decades after these cartoons were made, many are still fresh and lively, and make us laugh, as they must have made our parents and grand-parents laugh.

But how often have you seen a Merrie Melodie or Looney Tune, and scratched your head, wondering what a particular joke meant, or who was the personality that was being parodied? On the other hand, there may be a plethora of little, hidden jokes scattered in the cartoons that you might not notice on the first go-round. And, maybe, you just want a little bit more information about the people who produced these cartoons.

This website is an effort to present, in (I hope) an easy format, lots of interesting, obscure, and even at times weird bits of information on WB cartoons. I have arranged the subject matter alphabetically, and have tried to put in cross-references. The selection of subjects is, I admit, a trifle idiosyncratic, but I more than welcome comments, corrections, and suggestions for other topics. Hie your brickbats to: EOCostello@aol.com. And yes, I know the apostrophes are messed up in a lot of places.
