U.S. FLAG LOWERED IN RESPECT

As a sign of respect and condolence for the Chinese nation, the flag of the Consulate General was lowered to half-staff for 24 hours when the airplane carrying the remains of those killed in the accidental bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade arrived in Beijing on May 12.

(By order of the President and Secretary of State, similar measures were undertaken at the Embassy in Beijing and the Consulates General in Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenyang.)
