The Camp Hudgens 1998 Fall Foliage Tour
Want a trip down memory lane? Remember Gene Bartlett? He wrote songs for Falls Creek for many years. He was the BGCO Music Department director for several years. His dad wrote 'Victory in Jesus.' Gene or Uncle Gene as called by many, wrote this song to tell what a Royal Ambassador is. Camp still follows this ideology. Its based on 5 parts:
Isn't this a great motto! If every Christian, nea, if every Baptist followed this motto we would be fulfilling God's great commission along with every commandment and 'be-attitude.' You don't have to be a member of any organization to attend Camp Hudgens. When you attend a week of summer camp, the above motto is recited each morning. Many don't know it. But by the end of the week, at least a few more have heard it.
The Way it Was
This new area will feature the past at Camp Hudgens. I find pictures and slides that date back to 1958.
Remember the old rope bridge. I remember it was a part of the Loper Nature trail. It is long gone. On the right is the Temple of Silence or known to us as the Health Center. As you see it here it was the original camp office. The stairs took you to the roof which was a dance floor. Early campers like my brother Steve camped out on this building.
