DeBragga for state auditor

Reason For Seeking Office:

Early in my career I became aware that the boss does not always tell you everything about the job you are applying for. At one hospital I was presented with the following problems:

- Accounts Receivable has a $455,000 variance between the amounts on the General Ledger and the supporting detail- we don't know why?

- Newly acquired financial software (expensive software, used for billing patients, receiving payments for expenses and payroll) does not work and the old system is going to die within thirty days!

Neither of the aforementioned situations should have ever occurred- they were not minor events. Organizations often make $5,000 mistakes trying new processes or products; those making million dollar mistakes are mismanaged. The State Auditor is responsible for ensuring that taxpayer's dollars are spent efficiently and effectively. In addition to having the work and academic background to identify fraud and mismanagement, I have proven leadership skills to be in charge of this agency. For the past four years it appears that certain reports issued by the current State Auditor reflected bias of subject matter or publication timing. This Office always needs to maintain the highest standards of independence and objectivity. The substance of the report is of utmost importance. No other candidate offers the voters this combination of work and academic credentials. The citizens of North Carolina deserve the best!

Thank you for your support.
