TRANSFORM OUR COMMUNITY - VOTE FOR MEASURE A

More than any other single entity, our local schools are at the very center of who we are as a community. They house the learning activities of our children while regularly being asked to provide space for community gathering needs. (As we all know, public assembly spaces are very limited in Calistoga.) They are also a reflection of our vitality as a community, and as such, affect our property values.

Measure A will address all these needs, and more.

Student test scores have been rising steadily in recent years, but our physical facilities have fallen far behind those of surrounding communities. The libraries, labs, and technology infrastructure at our campuses are outdated and inadequate. Classrooms that were built in the 1950s and 1970s need new roofs, heating, and ventilation systems. Students at the Junior/Senior High School have no cafeteria, and the meals they are served—some 68,000 per year—are prepared at the district’s only kitchen at the Elementary School, then trucked across town and handed out to students who, on rainy days, must try and find a dry place to eat. We can do better.
