A letter from the candidate
My name is Nathan Neitzell and I am running for the office of State Representative in 27b.
I was born in southeastern middle class Minnesota, raised in a large family, with a hard working father and a stay-at-home mom. I learned the trade of construction from my dad, owner of Neitzell Construction and worked for more than 15 years with him in concrete, roofing and carpentry. Besides learning about hard work from my dad, I learned about the Golden Rule and playing fair. Frankly, there is a lot going on today in the business and banking world today that can hardly be called fair.
The careful strategy of our forefathers granted us a government that was designed to be, “of the people, by the people and for the people.” We are those people for today’s America. History will hold us accountable.
It is the privilege and responsibility of American citizens – not well-groomed Lords and Princes, not professional politicians and orators, but regular citizens, small business owners, teachers, lawyers, and “whosoever” -to step up to the plate and serve that lofty dream by running for office.
I wouldn’t have considered running this race if I thought I’d have to run it alone, but I’m convinced that there are many others who feel the deep concerns that I do. People who are not going to stand by and just moan while the ship of state goes down. People who are looking at the current trends gaining strength while our liberties are gasping for air and who want to be a part of the solution before it is too late! If this strikes a chord with you, I need you on my team.
It’s not about glory and fame. It’s about preserving for our children the freedom we have enjoyed – freedom to use our ingenuity and “sweat equity” to create and improve a satisfying quality of life for ourselves and them and to stop allowing heavy-handed government regulations to choke out the little guy who has a big dream, but not much else. It has been well known that America was a land of opportunity where ANYBODY with some ingenuity, some energy and some good ol’, “roll up your sleeves and get to work” ethic can have a go at making a better life for themselves. Our government has grown fatter and fatter, squeezing the life out of small business thru ridiculous amounts of rules and regulations, continually rising taxes, licenses and fees.
The privileges and challenges of running a small business are not unfamiliar to me. In 2001, my wife and I began to buy real estate and fix up homes to rent and sell. It was our first business endeavor, and it’s been successful. Last year, I joined with a partner in a new business printing yard signs. We are working hard to shoot the rapids of that first year of a new business, but I’ve got some great people and it is going well. The benefit of hard work in the business world is the payoff of learning good old-fashioned common sense.
As your representative, I can bring practical business knowledge, moral soundness and conservative politics to the table. If you know anything about me, you know that I am not afraid to stand up for what I believe in.
With your help, I can go to St. Paul and represent hard-working folks like you the way they deserve!! Hope to meet you on the campaign trail!
