It's been a very difficult six months for Don Samples and his two daughters. He never expected to lose his wife at this point in their lives, and certainly not in this way. Now as flu season comes around once again, he's begging everyone to get a flu shot. More >>

KNOXVILLE (WATE) -- The petition to recall Knox County Law Director Bill Lockett has been pulled and the Lockett Recall Initiative will delay re-filing it until a later time, members said Monday.
The initiative said it's received many calls from voters concerned about the cost of two special elections. Several voters have suggested revising the Knox County charter before mounting an effort to recall Lockett.
The charter's recall amendment would provide for two elections to choose a new law director. However, voters tell the initiative that county commission may propose a revision before recalling Lockett.
The initiative said it hopes to clear up the recall requirements and resubmit a recall petition for the August 2010 election.
A total of 40,000 voter signatures would be required on the petition.
