Detailed Info

Minecraft is actually split up into two versions, Minecraft: Java Edition, and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Java Edition is the original PC version of Minecraft, and Bedrock Edition is everything else.

Java Edition is spotless. There are no purchases beyond the pricetag.

Bedrock Edition has a marketplace where you can buy additional content, skins, resource packs, and more. You buy through a premium currency which, while it has a technical upper limit of buying all the content on the marketplace, would probably still let you buy more of the currency even if there was nothing left to spend it on.

Minecraft Realms (multiplayer content) is a server-hosting subscription service through Mojang.
