This page is dedicated to Uralic linguistics. It is of course permanently under construction. For now it consists mainly of a bunch of Uralic linguistic links I found here and there, as well as a list of cultural links of the Uralic peoples and some links of general linguistic interest. If anything below somehow doesn't work, please drop a note in Merlijn's Mailbox. Any suggestions and comments are, of course, very welcome.
The Rijksuniversiteit Groningen is the only university in the Netherlands where students are able to study Finnish, Hungarian and Fenno-Ugristics as main subjects. The still young department has just had it's 30th anniversary with a symposium about Finno-Ugrian languages in contact. Our department is the smallest of the University, with about 25 students, of which only 3 study Finno-Ugrian linguistics. The other study either Finnish or Hungarian language and literature. Although our department is (and will, considering the necessary limited interest for Finno-Ugrian languages in the Netherlands, remain) small it is very active. The department has its own homepage at the Groningen University faculty of arts.
Note: At a number of the sites below you need to register before you can read the newspaper on-line.
Note: This list of links is always under construction. Thus I have found mostly cultural links to Central Asian sites. I will add more later on. If a link does not work, please drop a message in my mail box. Thanks, Merlijn.
