GLADGate at GLAD Agency Board

Update as of May 23, 2000

Week #3 Questions as of May 23

1. Did Mark Apodaca as GLAD CEO disregard any mandate by the Agency Board?

2. What kind of evaluation did the agency board use to determine that Mark Apodaca's performance was not up to standard?

11 Unanswered questions to date and growing.

This scanned picture is from The GLAD News, page 3, Spring 2000 issue.  The title is "Comments from the Chair"  depicting Sheri Farinhi Mutti.   This so-called chair is the interim warpathed CEO of GLAD?  As you can see clearly, it is very twisted.  When did she decide to become the chair of GLAD?  There is no mention of Herb Larson anywhere.  There is nothing in her comments about the Los Angeles Deaf Community, just some state-level deaf educational and interpreting issues.

The LA Deaf Community is simply set aside.

Two or three questions will be posted every 7-10 days, so stay tuned.  Any questions, comments or concerns? Email at deafforum@aol.com. This email will go to all past presidents.

Week #2 Questions as of May 1

1. Did the Agency Board provide Mark Apodaca a list of annual organizational goals that GLAD wanted to accomplish under his leadership?

2. Was Mark Apodaca attending all official Board meetings during his tenure as GLAD CEO?

3. Did the Agency Board ever assemble for a meeting outside of GLAD Headquarters unbeknownst to Mark Apodaca while he was GLAD CEO?

GLAD has released a press release on March 30.

A letter was sent to Director of Office of Deaf Access (ODA), Fred Lewis with cc to the Director of Dept. of Social Services, Rita Saenz on April 26, 2000.   This was in response to Fred Lewis' letter, dated February 21, 2000.

Sheri Farinha-Mutti is still the Interim CEO of GLAD and CEO of NORCAL.  GLAD is still in the "interviewing stage" for a replacement CEO since the October 4 job announcement, more than a half year with no results!  GLAD just announced a new position, Deputy Director on May 5, 2000.  It might be another half year before they locate a suitable candidate!!

Week #1 Questions as of March 6

1. Unanimous voting, 11-0, to terminate the GLAD CEO: Are you sure of the exact tally for that motion? When did the vote take place?

2. Marcella Meyer not on GLAD payroll: Why wasn't Marcella on the GLAD Board as a voting member then? Was there any reason in the Board action when they authorized emeritus status without voting privileges for Marcella?

3. Missing minutes: To which meeting date are you referring in regard to the minutes being lost? (Herb announced that the agency meeting minutes were lost at the October 23, 1999 Council meeting)

Declaration of GLADGATE

The above scanned picture is from GLAD News, Vol. 31, Number 3 & 4 (Winter 2000 issue) on page 3.  He said that most of the these imaginative stories are little more interesting than the actual facts.  The facts he presented in his article are selective truth.  Are we being imaginative?  We are making it more interesting for the sake of Deaf community, not for the five of us.  They have not answer many questions for several months now.  Therefore, we will be presenting three questions here every week.

Imaginative stories? Was Herb being imaginative when he wrote this article? Huh, how do you explain the lawsuit against him and the agency board?  Read the long complaint paper here which was filed on February 4, 2000.

Sheri Farinhi-Mutti is still interim CEO for six months now.  NORCAL Board will have to extend the CEO loan to GLAD again beyond February 29.

Reminder, it is the GLAD AGENCY BOARD that we are after, not the services and programs offered by GLAD.

Update as of February 8, 2000

"GLAD Agency Board's No Response to Our Questions: What Are They Hiding?" click here to see the questions.

We had Forum II last Saturday, on February 5 with over 150 people in attendance at CSUN.  There were more people in Forum II than Forum I held on Oct 2 in Long Beach and even a lot more than regular GLAD council meetings.  We presented seven critical incidents and five demands.  Remember, we are after the agency board, NOT the GLAD services (CEO and all other services under the direction of CEO).

It is NOW GLADGATE!

See the critical incidents and demands.

Update as of January 20, 2000.

Leo Mouton has left the Agency Board, only after two months.  What does that tell you?  See the updated Board list
