Lesley Stahl: "We have heard that half a million children
have died [as a result of sanctions against Iraq]. I mean, that
is more children than died in Hiroshima... Is the price worth
Madeleine Albright: "...we think the price is worth it."
"We will not be intimidated or pushed off the world stage by
people who do not like what we stand for, and that is, freedom,
democracy and the fight against disease, poverty and terrorism."

About the name, "Liberated Existence":
"You're a malcontent"-- said to me by a Univ. of Memphis
faculty. "No I'm not, I'm an anarchist!!" my clever reply.
This site was created in October 1997 by Denny Henke
As an anarchist I want to advocate and work towards the
creation of a free society. This page is about the struggle that
must happen so that we may be free. Look here for local and
global news about what people are thinking and doing to take
humanity a step closer towards freedom. liberated existence also provides information regarding anarchist organizing
which is going on in Memphis. LE contains organizational
information as well as theoretical essays and pamphlets. Some of
the writings here are fairly new, some were written two or three
years ago. They're written for the self-development of the
writer as well as the reader.

"I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, equality, and freedom for their spirits. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down, other-centered men can build up....human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable.... We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of NOW. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history there is such a thing as being too late.... this is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action."
--Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Modern industrial civilization has developed within a
certain system of convenient myths. The driving force of modern
industrial civilizations has been individual material gain which
is accepted as legitimate, even praiseworthy on the grounds that
private vices yield public benefits in the classic formulation.
Now its long been understood, very well, that a society that is
based on this principle will destroy itself in time. It can only
persist with whatever suffering and injustice that it entails as
long as its possible to pretend that the destructive forces that
human create are limited. that the world is an infinite resource
and that the world is an infinite garbage can.
At this stage of history, either one of two things is
possible. Either the general population will take control of
it's own destiny and concern itself with community interests
guided by values of solidarity, sympathy and concern for others.
Or alternatively there will be no destiny for anyone to control.
As long as some specialized class is in a position of authority
its going to set policy in the special interest that it serves.
But the conditions of survival, let alone justice, require
rational social planning in the interest of community as a
whole, and by now that means the global community. The question
is whether privileged elites should dominate mass communication
and should use this power as they tell us they must. Namely to
impose Necessary Illusions. To manipulate and deceive the stupid
majority and remove them from the public arena. The question in
brief, is whether democracy and freedom are values to be
preserved or threats to be avoided.
In this possibly terminal phase of human existence, democracy and freedom are more than values to be treasured, they may well be essential to survival. "
"When I see an actual flesh and blood worker in conflict with
his (sic.) natural enemy, the police[man], i do not have to say
which side I am on."--George Orwell
"There are big efforts to make people feel helpless, as if
there is some kind of mysterious economic law that forces things
to happen in a particular way, like the law of gravitation. That
is just nonsense. [Illegitimate institutions] are human
institutions, they are subject to human will. They can be
eliminated like other tyrannical institutions have been." --Noam
