Anachroartist on the forums - Gwog 8/10/00 7:25 PST Anachronox artist Travis 'SevenCubed' Doggett hit The PlanetAnachronox forums recently for a little chitchat, in the following threads:
regarding mods:
"Yeah, I'm Totally interested in seeing what the community does with the project. I'm not a code monkey, but from what I hear, APE is so powerful, it's WRONG.
mmm... Shooter using anox engine...
"
regarding our list of Anox levels:
"Hot Diggity. even I didn't know there were that many levels.
And Sorry to all for not posting any more frequently... I had disregarded the boards for a Long time because no one posted...
"
general comments:
"Well, the increasing number of posts ought to quell your fears, although I know better than to speculate a release date for ye. Rest assured, we're still here, and workin' like mad lil' monkies..." |

More on Anox team departures - Gwog 8/8/00 16:35 PST BluesNews and Stomped have posted up bits concerning some recent changes on the Anachronox team. Seneca Menard is heading off to id software to work on the new DOOM game, Lee Dotson is at Rogue finishing up American McGee's Alice (where a BUNCH of former Daikatana guys work), and Lee 'eepers' Perry is considering moving to Retro Studios (where Zoid and Morbid are). No word from Tom Hall yet on the new people they've hired at ION. |

AnachroTeam Stuffage - mewse 8/7/00 2:54 PST PlanetCrap has an interesting thread regarding Anachronox, and the conversation seems pretty Anachrofriendly, at least until it descends into non-relevance (YES, id made the Keen games, damnit). In addition, it has Tom Hall quotes!
We've now heard back from Tom Hall. He explained that Andrew Megowan left ION Storm "a couple months ago", and wished him the best of luck. He didn't comment on the reason for Andrew's departure.
Tom also confirmed one of the other recent rumours, saying that some other members of the Anachronox team are leaving, having received "great offers" from other companies. He declined to reveal who they were, saying "I'd like that to be their news, really (you know, once they get settled)". A number of new developers have been hired at ION Storm.
Finally, Tom commented on the current state of Anachronox: "There is a chart on the wall of every last thing left to do in the game (and a more detailed one in Project, of course). We're checking it off, meeting or beating our internal schedule. Once that chart's full, and the game is well-tested and tweaked, we're gonna ship it."
Hmm, the Anachrochart. Sounds n33t. |

Tom Hall video interview - Gwog 8/2/00 5:01 PST Grab a tall frosty Microsoft Media Player and cuddle 'round Epradio.com, seeing as how they've posted up a (long) video interview with El Rey Del Mandance-o himself. According to Blues (who's WMA must be working better than mine), the vid is 30 mins long and assuredly does contain some Anox info.
Update: Oops, the interview is audio only. |

Anachrochat on Thursday, new Rockful Anox'er - mewse 8/1/00 21:17 PST ION's Daily Informant was updated today with a reminder that the monthly Anachrochat will be taking place on Thurday at 8pm Central time.
It's that time of the month once again, that's right Thursday is August's Anachrochat! So come on out and talk to Tom Hall and the Anachronox crew about cheese, Feng Shui, the Rockful Anox'er of the week, and maybe even Anachronox while we are at it. The chat starts at 8pm Central Time, and you can get to the chat via the online section of the ION Storm website, or through IRC server "www.ionstorm.com" room "#ion".
There is also a new Rockful Anox'er of the week, Richie Gaubert! Straight from Tom Hall's mouth:
This week's Rockful Anoxer of the Week is...Richie Gaubert!
Yes, R. Zangrande Goobear has wrapped up the writing the last of the cinematic scenes. What an entertaining body of work! As he turns to polishing off the last of the remaining NPC dialogue, we appreciate his long hours here and quality content. Now if we can just stop the screaming....
Congrats, Richie, and well done!
Hope to see you all at the Anachrochat! Remember, Thursday at 8pm Central. |

The sordid saga of the newest Anox Trailer - Gwog 7/31/00 16:26 PST *sigh*
Some of you may have noticed (and even downloaded) the newest Anachronox trailer posted about here and on Bluesnews. It turns out that this video was never intended for public release (you might have been tipped off by the lack of sound, debug messages, and game assets that aren't even in Anox anymore). Eidos has pulled the video, and at ION's request so have we. Anachronox is a massively kickass looking and sounding game and we can understand why ION Storm wouldn't want anything less than a completely rocking trailer released to represent it.
No-glasses-having-Production Coordinator Andrew Thomas posted about this issue on ION's Forums:
"I'd just like to make a quick response to the new movie trailer. This was a goof up on someone's part. You'll probably see a statement to that affect on our site soon. We (the Anachronox Dev Team) only release quality content about the game. The trailer was not made by any of our internal staff, and does not represent how cool Anachronox truly is. I'm glad that everyone seems to like it, but the game is so much cooler than what you've seen in that trailer. There were even some extremely old levels in there that have since been completely renovated. We would never release a trailer without sound or music. Eidos didn't even officially post a link to it on the web site, but someone accidentally put it on the public FTP, and of course, you news hungry fans out there did what any respectable news hungry fan would do - DOWNLOAD! " |

Thumbnailed versions of Anox screenpack - Gwog 7/31/00 5:14 PST A few sites out there have put up thumbnail indexes of the screens from Eidos' new redesign (most of which aren't actually new), so take your pick if you'd rather avoid the big download:

UPDATE: no it hasn't... |
