What's in Stores This Week By Perry Gentry March 13, 1998, 04:00 PM PT
First, however, the news about the game everyone's waiting for, Blizzard's StarCraft. It was variously reported to be coming out anytime between March 10 and March 15, but no such luck. The latest release date we have, at least according to Electronics Boutique's product listing, is March 25. For all the testing that's still going on, the game better be clean as a whistle when it finally comes out. OK, on to the rest of the best. Battlezone, Activision's interplanetary tank battle game, was released on March 11. The company is also scheduled to release a retooled blast from the gaming past, Wolfenstein 3D, on March 14. Look for Activision's two add-on packs, MechWarrior 2: The Titanium Trilogy, on March 17 or 18; and Dark Reign: Rise of the Shadowhand, sometime between March 18 and 20. Interplay also has an add-on coming, the Star Fleet Mission Pack, due on March 20. Three racing sims will soon be hitting stores. Bethesda's Burnout: Championship Drag Racing, MicroProse's Ultim@te Race Pro, and Ubi Soft's F1 Racing are all coming sometime between March 18 and 21. For those who like their sims a tad more sedate, Empire's Golf Pro is slated for a March 16 release. Two more futuristic strategy-war games are coming, Red Orb's Warbreeds, and Interactive Magic's Liberation Day. Lastly, a surreal adventure game from Interplay, Dreams to Reality, is scheduled for release on March 20. (Editor's note: This page has changed from the original version.
