Set in 1938, Murder in a Small Town stars Gene Wilder as "Cash," a big-time Broadway director who earned his nickname by directing a string of back-to-back box office hits. When Cash's wife is brutally murdered, he retreats from New York City to the safer environs of Stamford, Connecticut, and starts his own community theatre, hoping to live a quieter life.
