Screaming terror would suck...

Simply? At high levels mobs resist it, and you have a chanter with it.

I'd love infusion... cleric low on health?!

PUMP THEM! 0 down time...

Chanter low? NP! Infus! Then pump!

Solo non stop!

tap tap tap tap infuse tap tap tap tap infuse....

how good would life be?

I would just like the effect to be good enough to free up at least one spell slot like the Cleric's Right Clickable top line res spell. Don't see what all the gripe about that effect was, unlimited casts of a res spell costing no mana that gives an extra spell slot.

we arent going to get
a. convergence
b. infusion
c. trucidation
d. snare/fear dot combo
... well we might get trucidation, that would be swwwwwwwweeeeet (ice comet lifetap)
anyway summon corpse, or like vexing mordiana is a realistic effect, the enchanters got "instant cast speed of shissar" which is a nice buff, but it doesnt take a reg or anything, so i doubt we will get anything too special (like instant 1000 mana, etc.)

ROFLMAO, if you think they would even think of making something like trucidation the effect your expecting too much lol.

The effect will most likely be Soul Consumption, a 500 BoD type lifetap which has a 10 tick duration, it was one of the effects added with the epic quests.

Now if that god damn cloak off KoS would drop.

=)

Ours and the warrior quest are the two toughest to do, we should be compensated correspondingly.

Our effect should be trucidinfusidarkiconvergivexingmalefication:

Casts a 1200 pt lifetap, infuses us with 1000 mana, snares and fears the mob placing a 1500 pt DoT lifetap on it, as well as resurrecting with 96% exp return any corpses within 100 ft of us. Oh... also grants us 5 essence emeralds per use.

That's about what I think is fair given the amount of time it takes to get one of these things.

it wouldnt be infus or anything like that. at least I hope not. that would still take the component so now we have a no mana cast of something I still cannot cast without the component. not very usefull IMHO. I think it will be a life tap. After all that is the necro bread and butter spell just like rez for a cleric. Would be nice if they gave us a mana tap tho. hehe ya I know dream on.

OK yes this is way off topic, but has anyone actually every tried casting, convergence, infusion, or turdidation?

Does the essence emerald actually get consumed or does it possibly work like Banshee Aura where you just need 1 pearl in your inventory. I am more curious about infusion and trucidation, as i am sure convergence would consume it.

They all consume the emeralds if I remember correctly.

As far as I remember it uses the essence emerald for any of those 3 spells.

A fear type spell would be limiting. Do u really want to fear a high level mob so it runs away in a dungeon? Nice train dumbass necro. BTW, why don't u take ur duck stick and get the quack out of here. hehe

I think what people are forgetting is that Verant, in their infinite wisdom, as well as the rest of the EQ community consider Necros to be overpowered as it is. The item will most likely have comparable stats to the other items but dont expect any high level spell to be associated with it. It will probably be more like a small lifetap or possibly a pet buff spell like augment death.

Dont relate the difficulty of the quest to the power of the item. It just wont match up!

The quest is no doubt not worth the effort for the item, but when your level 60 what else do you have to do? Might as well keep yourself busy.

In paraphrase, Dont get your hopes up. =(

Torment of Shadows
1200 dmg and reduce movement %65

Maybe a lifetap DOT component to it, but it WONT fear.

Huh?

I don't mean to imply that our quest is easy or anything, but have you looked at the monks or mages lately? What about the wizards? We at least were able to find the start of our quest without too much difficulty. The mages don't even know what drops two of their items! I think the best way to judge the difficulty is seeing how quickly the quests get done.

That's one possible heuristic function for determining the difficulty of a quest. However, I choose to determine the difficulty based on the items one ends up having to get.

The reason I choose to do this is that in the long run, this is the "difficulty" of the quest. These quests were introduced a few weeks ago. Several months down the road everyone will know HOW to do them, and so the difficulty will be determined by HOW HARD they are to complete based on the items one needs to get to complete them.

Using my heuristic function, the necro quest and the warrior quest are indeed the two hardest so far. However, as more is revealed about the other two quests they may become harder.

So now that Ester the Tester has replied to one of your threads are you going to complete the quest? I'm anxious to see what kind of Weapon we get and what it does. Personally I think I'd see if a GM could hang around to make sure it goes smoothly when handing in the book since the book is not too clear on what to do. Would be nice if they made an exception and watched you hand it in since the itmes were next to impossible to come by.

um, who isn't?

i would bet on the effect being either a pet buff, mana/hp trade like lich forms, or like a 1200 point DoT with snare.

Hate to be the one to birst your "Necro quest is hardest" bubble, but, even based on items, the magician one is as hard or worse.

We have to have a pegasus feather cloak
(rare drop on Quillmane, the rare wandering pegasus in South Karana)
A crown of elemental mastery(dropped as a uncommon drop on a greater sphinx on the seventh island in PoA)
A Staff of Elemental Mastery:Water(Rare fom Phinigel Autropos)
A Staff of Elemental Mastery:Earth(Rare from Innoruk)

and a few things that NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN.

I confess that I have not ever had a character above level 40, so I am unsure of the dificulty of all this, but I can confidently say that it is as bad as, if not worse, than your items.

Sheesh, why must mages and necromancers constantly whine about eachothers abilities, always trying to be better than the other?

Cant we just agree we both rule and leave it at that?

I close my eyes and dream of a shimmering black bladed scythe, with nice damg stats even though we dont melee, good int and mana as well as some agi n dex possibly, nice disease and poison restistances are noticable above the other vs, acts as a permanent essance emerald, effect: right click for some wicked lifedraw series style spell that gives you health and possibly mana back, or some spiffy evil dot. Then I open my eyes to reality and view the 'duck staff'. Heh

Wish ya luck man, now go seek out the supreme item of Necros.

You know i just get flat sick of people of all classes complaining, 90% of it is just plain stupidity, and class envy, i seldom ever see any legitimate complaints that are suported well. It especially irks me when the people complain before they even have something to complain about, I.E. "oh yeah verant has already shafted the magicians/necros/whatever" even though the damn item hasnt even been found. Of course everyone blows everything completely out of proportion to a real problem, much like the majority of rangers did with AC. Then there are the people who constantly state how much they hate verant and how much they hate everquest, and how they are going to delete their accounts, and 15 minutes after posting the whine, they go play 15 hours straight.

Oh and the point in hell levels, other than a time sink, is to allow skills to be caught up that may have lagged behind.
