Hmmm, I am up to the part of the Scabbard quest where it asks for a the Dragon Scales, yet I haven't heard anything about the hilt. Would anyone care to share where the hilt quest starts at and with whom?

Paladin weapons should be 1H, they only use 2H when they *attempting* to solo; since pallies can't do crap damage anyways, in groups, where they shine, they want 1H + uber-shields (a.la Shield of Stalwart Seas or Bladestopper)
so they can have higher AC than the warrior and just chain cast stun+holymight+force, while getting a few hits in.

Red Scale = Heart = 1H Slash Warrior FA

Blue Scale = Soul = 1H Slash Warrior FA

Heart + Soul + Scabbard = Heart & Soul = 2H Warrior FA

I have more question to this quest but I do know some thing, you can get the hilt under 3 spawn in lake rath.

question one , where dose the two guys in EK bythe ramp fit in to this quest, one named redblade & the other is the one you get the stroy from about the swords, I asked red blade ever thing I could think of trying to get more outof him. when you hail him he will say some thing like do you seek the knowgle of rallios zek, you have to reaply this "what knowgle of raillos zek" then he tells you that the armies of raillos will be back & this time not just ogres or gaints will be there that humans will be there to, that he has accepted raillos zak, & that the world will be over run but red & green blood.

I ask how do I accpet raillos zak what armeis of rallio zak &what; red & green blood, I got no where. I have the note to give to the ogre from the guy in freeport so guess may lrean more there.

Ok so I seem to be getting the gist of what this is going to require. One question on the scales...

Red scale- Is this the scale from Nagafen? Or does something else drop this?

Green Scale - Is this from Severilious in Emerald Jungle or do you get this somewhere else?

Blue scale - What blue scale? I never heard of a blue scale before.

And new dragons you guys are talking about, do you mean Gorenaire and Severilious or are there other even newer dragons that are easier?

I'm going to post a detailed summary of the quest so far since I haven't seen one here yet.
The quest consists of five parts - you need to get the scabbard, 2 hilts, and 2 blades.

The scabbard quest starts with Kargek Redblade in EFP - he is on a ledge OVER the recessed area that leads to the SK guild. Hail and talk to him and he gives you a letter to take to his friend (Oknoggin or some such) in Feerott. Oknoggin is standing by one of the bridges, give him the letter and he gives you an item to return to Kargek. Kargek then gives you a book to take to his brother Telan in East Karana at the end of the path below the ramp. Give the book to Telan and he gives you a totem, and asks you to return the totem with a Heart of Ice from a goblin wizard in Permafrost. Return those, and he gives you a second totem and asks you to return that with red and green scales of the children of Veeshan (dragons). It's confirmed that the green scale drops off Severilous in EJ.

The first hilt is found in Lake Rathetear on the bottom of the lake directly below the aviak platform. Find that and take it to Wenden Blackhammer (who stands right next to Kargek Redblade in EFP). Ask him about the hilt, tell him you need one repaired, and give him the name of the hilt and he will tell you what he needs to repair it - in this case 3 gems. If you listened to the bard (Fellonious whatever in EK) you know the swords had diamonds, Black sapphires and jacinths on their hilts - give Wenden the hilt and one of each of these and he will return the repaired hilt to you.

The second hilt is in Timorous Deep, on the island with the chessboard, it spawns at the base of one of the chess pieces. Take this also to Wenden and ask him about it by name and he will tell you he needs 2 types of metal - golem metal and rejesiam ore. Ask him about Rejesiam ore and he tells you of a giant in FM who sells him the ore. Go to FM and talk to this giant (at the end of the mine under the giant fort) and he tells you he will give you the ore if you get him a monocle. Monocles are rumored to drop off mountain giant patriarchs in Dreadlands, I killed one last night but it didn't have one. The golem metal, Wenden says is too strong to come from this plane - and since the patch Fright and Terror in the plane of fear have been dropping what is believed to be the metal you need.

The first blade quest is in OOT - there is a dwarf on Aviak island who has it, he will sell it to you in return for 2 rebreathers, a keg of vox tail ale and a block of permafrost. Permafrost drops off ice giants IN perma (not outside in everfrost). Rumor has it the ale can be bought from a merchant for 1kpp but I don't know which or if this is true.

No one seems to know where the second blade quest is found, it's guessed to be in Kunark (because the 1st blade and 1st hilt were in the old world, and the 2nd hilt was in kunark (timorous)).

ok just to help some ppl out... so far i'm about halfway done with all 3 quests.

the items needed are severly damaged dragon head hilt located in timorous deep.. chessboard isel.. near the king chess piece..

unjeweled dragon head hilt located in lake rathe near the blue flame tower in the water.

u need a block of permafrost.. from ice giants in perma.. VERY RARE.
some precious metals .. 1 is from an npc in frontier mountains.. but he needs a monocle before he will give u the metal.. monocle is located in dreadlands off of giant patriachs.

the other metal is called livingcenter from the 3 golems in plane of fear.. i also have this item.. as well as the block of permafrost and the monocle..

now for the jeweled hilt.. u need a diamond jacinth and black sapphire.. give him all 3 at once and u get a JEWELED dragon head hilt in retur
now then.. without spoiling everything i can tell u that were only halfway done at thie point...

goodluck and enjoy.

I was leaving Lake Rathe when I noticed an ogre standing near the LR/RM zone. I think his name is Derm or something short like that. Anyways he says that he took his yearly bath by jumping off the Aviak Diving Board (he called it something more like aviak diving thingie, honest) So you run up there and take a flying leap, and go all the way down to the bottom of the dip under water. You'll see a very small bag that when you pick it up, looks like a Sarnak head. Its called an Unjewelled Dragon Head Hilt. Just a little FYI from your friendly local Necromancer

*just a thought* is it possible that this weapon can be both either 2 1hs weapons, or 1 2hs weapon? i am asking cause it is mentioned that there are 2 swords, and only one scabard. sort of like having 2 1hs weapons when you want to dual weild, then when you want a 2hs weapon, you put both swords in the scabard and combine them into one 2hs weapon.
just something that stuck with me based of comments by others. if anyone has completed this and KNOWS for a fact what the weapon and stats are, could you please verify if my hunch is correct or not?

thankee,
-me

Yes the rebreathers are the tinkered item. On Cazic Thule I only know of one person who sells them, for 2500pp each. And no one has seen him for quite sometime, so looks like I may be in some trouble.

Any body no if the guy in Ferrot is a stationary spawn? If so do you have a loc or a better description of which bridge? whether its the one closer to CT entrance or the other one? Thanks.

Hail Kargek and you get an emote about a really big scabbard on his back. Ask about to scabbard and he tells you to do him a favor first. He gives you a letter that you have to give to an Ogre named Oknoggin Stonesmasher in Ferrot. He hangs out by the stone bridge and accepted the letter from me, even though I am a Barbarian Shaman. He gives you a tiny lute to give back to Kargek. Kargek then gives you a book talking about Rallos Zek and the sword and tells you to give it to his brother Telan. Kargek would not spill the location of Telan, but thanks to the vast network of guilds I found him at the very end of the gorde next to the ramp that goest to High Holdpass in East Karana. Talen Redblade gives you a long speach about how the followers of Rallos Zek will overthrow the rest of the world and then tells you that the sword was a gift from Rallos Zek (gee, I wonder if this is a Rallos Zek worshiper only weapon, all you agnosic warriors are kicking yourselves now). He then gives you a Freezing War Totem and tells you to go to the fortress where Rallos Zeks followers where first punished (read Norrath back story on Verant webpage for that) and bring back a goblin's heart as your first test. I am positive he means Permafrost and I think he means the Heart of Frost off goblin wizards. Have not completed the quest any further. Hope to be the first one to complete it even though I am a shaman (grins evily).

You realize of course that if it is a FA style weapon that it is most likely NO DROP! All you are going to do is make it harder for some deserving warrior to finish the quest.

Just a couple of hints to think about

1) The FA style quest are designed to be long and enduring for possibly the best weapon(s) for your class in the game. This in mind, lvl restrictions could very well be in place making them 50+ to complete (including but not limited to npc discussions).

2) Number 1 in mind, and Vox and Nag being restricted to lvl 53 under, these may not be the places to look.

3) For the length of the quest and as another poster stated possible no drop, keeping in mind the lvl to aquire and prevention of twinking a low lvl with a god like drop weapon......Kinda makes ya go Hmmm

.....Happy Questing

I dont think the Scales they are talking about are the ones off the dragons Naggy or the ones in Kunark now, well i guess they might do it but i would be very disapointed if they did.
Ever think that the scales might drop off named wurms or wyvrms in sky?
I mean with the 53lvl cap on Naggy and Vox and the new dragons being 60th+
It just sounds kind of wierd that they would penalize you for being 53rd. just a few thoughts.

I heard a rumor that the FA style classes were made for everyone, including those who did not purchase Kunark. Seeing how some of you have found components to the quest in Kunark.. it may be that there are more then one way to solve this quest.

Btw, thanks for the info everyone, its very helpful!

Just A Thought, If it is really a Hard quest then i would reckon it might have something to do with veeshan's peaks? Seeing there should be all dragons in the zone. Just a Thought
