In EK at the bottom of the ramp leading to HH theres a new NPC, i forget his name but i think he stays there and doesnt roam. Hes a half elf wearing banded style armor.

He asks if wanna hear a story about an ogre or a gnome. the Gnome is in brackets but the ogre isnt. ask about the ogre anyway. He tells a story about great warrior weapons forged for an ogre, he says that he who finds all the pieces and the red scabbard will own it. The red scabbard is guarded by a "small" ogre.

I believe this is the start of the warrior quest, take a look for yourselves.

Well, in WK, there's an ogre named Tiny Miller. Maybe that'll help?

Anyone know how difficult this quest is supposed to be?

I am hoping it is about on par with Fiery Avenger though scaled for 60th level characters rather than 50th. If this is the case I may actually someday see one.

Would appreciate the heads up. Thank you.

I have already done part of this quest. Go to East Freeport and chilling by the Rogue and SK guilds is a Kargek Redblade and a dwarf. Hail Kargek and you get an emote about a really big scabbard on his back. Ask about to scabbard and he tells you to do him a favor first. He gives you a letter that you have to give to an Ogre named Oknoggin Stonesmasher in Ferrot. He hangs out by the stone bridge and accepted the letter from me, even though I am a Barbarian Shaman. He gives you a tiny lute to give back to Kargek. Kargek then gives you a book talking about Rallos Zek and the sword and tells you to give it to his brother Telan. Kargek would not spill the location of Telan, but thanks to the vast network of guilds I found him at the very end of the gorde next to the ramp that goest to High Holdpass in East Karana. Talen Redblade gives you a long speach about how the followers of Rallos Zek will overthrow the rest of the world and then tells you that the sword was a gift from Rallos Zek (gee, I wonder if this is a Rallos Zek worshiper only weapon, all you agnosic warriors are kicking yourselves now). He then gives you a Freezing War Totem and tells you to go to the fortress where Rallos Zeks followers where first punished (read Norrath back story on Verant webpage for that) and bring back a goblin's heart as your first test. I am positive he means Permafrost and I think he means the Heart of Frost off goblin wizards. Have not completed the quest any further. Hope to be the first one to complete it even though I am a shaman (grins evily).

From what it sounds like, a lot of these quests start off geared toward mid level characters. I wouldn't doubt that VI is trying to make this seem like a life-long quest type of thing.

It would work, too, if you aren't already 50th+. I hope it gets a bit more difficult than tracking down a Heart of Frost... =) And I seriously doubt it's god-based (or hope it's not, whichever). I don't think I've ever seen anything that INCREASES Rallos Zek faction for no ogre/trolls

Been a while since I actually looked forward to playing EQ...guess now is my chance to get all jazzed up about it again.

The NPC at the ramp to the Gorge is Felonius Sworddancer, not Talen Redblade. Unless Talen's hiding out there as well. Now this NPC goes on a long winded but interesting speech about the sword, scabbard, Rallos Zek, and an Ogre Warrior. I was unable to get this totem though at the end of it. Still investigating the tiny Ogre portion as well.

Here is an update on the warrior quest form your friendly neiborhood shaman. The Heart of Frost off of goblin wizards in Permafrost is indeed what Talen Redblade wanted. Give him the Heart of Frost and the Totem of Freezing War and he becomes possesed by Rallos Zek who asks you to bring this mortal the red and green scales of Veshen's Children and to return the Totem of Raging War you are given for getting the heart. So, anyone want to slay a few dragons and help a shaman be the first one to get the warrior uberweapon (once again grins evilly)

Uhh, I wonder why Varent didnt make the Warrior's FA a 1-hnd SLash or something. Warriors are much better dual-wielding than using 2-hnd Slash. 2-hnd Slash shoudl be left to the Paladins and Shadow Knights =)

These quests are no where near mid lvl quests. The Warrior needs a Red and green dragon scale (naggy and either trak or the dragon in EJ) and that is only half of the quest.

Just incase you warriors wanted a good read, I cleaned up my log file of the story and i'll post it here for you to analyze.

Felonius Sworddancer regards you indifferently -- what would you like your tombstone to say?
You say, 'hail Felonius Sworddancer'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'Hello, Jayr I am Felodious Sworddancer. A travelling historian and storyteller. Would you care to hear a [story]?
You say, 'i would like to hear a story'
You say, 'what ogre'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'Suteng was an ogre champion who walked the land long before the children of Rallos Zek were cursed. He feared no other creation of Zek and the children of the other gods were to be laughed at. It was at this time that Rallos Zek was seeking a warrior to unite all of his armies and lead them to battle against the forces of the other [gods].
You say, 'gods'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'Suteng was a great combatant, however, he was far too cocky to become a suitable leader and this displeased Rallos Zek. One who respected no one could not do this. In order to test Suteng, who had grown far too confident, Rallos had his twin sons craft two swords to test his great ogre warrior's reaction and resolve. Rallos created a great red scabbard to hold the swords as [well].
You say, 'well'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'The swords were like no others. Each one having an ornately crafted hilt shaped like a dragon head. Sparkling diamonds, black sapphires and jacinth covered the handles as well. The razor sharp blades were covered in runes that glowed and [shimmered].
You say, 'shimmered'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'Suteng bowed in reverence to his Lord Rallos Zek as he was given the weapons. Rallos warned Suteng that these weapons might destroy him if he were not truly worthy of leading his armies. Not heading Rallos' warning that the weapons may be too powerful for him to control, Suteng gathered up a raiding party of his finest warriors to seek [battle].
You say, 'battle'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'They traveled across the lands in search of a suitable target. Finally they came across a goblin army camped upon the plains. Suteng sounded his battle charge and his band of ogres charged down the hillside into the army's [encampment].
You say, 'encampment'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'With each swipe of their swords the ancient ogres slew many goblins. Suteng waded through the battle, his new weapons calling out for the blood of more powerful foes. His bloodlust grew with each kill, his blades spurring him onward. Ignoring his own wounds, he fought on until the goblin army was dead or scattered to the [winds].
You say, 'winds'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'Only the hulking ogres of old remained standing on the blood-soaked plains. Suteng felt like a god and that would be his downfall. He looked to his companions, the great and powerful ogre warriors with whom he had killed and shed blood. Suteng felt nothing but contempt for them. They, of course, were weaker then, or at least so he [thought].
You say, 'thought'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'Without a second thought, Suteng stabbed the ogre nearest to him in the neck with one of the swords. His body moved like a whirlwind of death, slaughtering his own companions. The ogres fought back valiantly, no match for Suteng with his enchanted [blades].
You say, 'blades'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'The laughter of Rallos Zek boomed across the plains as the lord of war appeared before Suteng and took the weapons from the ogre's hands. The swords slashed into Suteng swiftly, killing him where he stood. The lord of war spoke to the remaining ogres on the battlefield, explaining why he had [tested] Suteng.
You say, 'tested'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'He also told them each that if they wished to wield the weapons, they would have to seek them out for they would be broken into pieces and spread across Norrath. The blades would not be whole again until a suitable warrior found the pieces, and gained the red [scabbard].
You say, 'scabbard'
Felonius Sworddancer says 'The lord of war handed the smallest ogre the great red scabbard and told him that it was his charge, and the charge of his family, to test any warrior who wished to have it.

Hope this helps, at least saves you a trip to EK, if not at least it's a good story.

Okay this sounds like it has 3 parts. I have a theory.

Kargek and Telen Redblade are one part. and getting the red+green dragon scales may be the end of this quest. I have a feeling this one gives you one of the 1 hand slash weapons. Now think about this...all those HIGH warriors who cannot fight Nagafen now are very SOL. They cant get the scale unless they can get lower people to get it for them. This may be actually harder for some people than getting the green scale (guilds like Legacy of Steel, Fires of Heaven, and Seekers of Norrath are probably much better equipped to handle Severilious than power a bunch of twinks up whho can take nagafen. For us warriors lower than 53 this is our chance to grab a red scale while we can.

The second part of this quest I believe is Felonious Sword dancer. And the end of this quest will result in finding the scabbard.

The third part would be the second sword.

Now mind you there could be many more parts. who knows maybe the scales just get you a hilt or something.

Regardless if the guy says Red and green dragon scales then he probably means off Nagafen and Sev. Unless the dragons in skyfire start dropping some colored scales.
