Don't forget that all C/Ku-band geosynchronous satellites are listed by orbit position in the Western Hemisphere/Eastern Hemisphere charts with their complete details (orbit position, inclination, specs, footprints, coverage, transponder programming) and links to original source material. |
The reason we made these charts is because we live in Mexico, do not have easy access to satellite
coverage information, and we like our satellite dish. To see what more we
could receive, we went to the Internet to look for footprints of satellites
we knew to be in orbit in our skies. We found it difficult, and sometimes
impossible, to locate such information. Many Internet sites with what we
wanted had it available only to subscribers leaving the option for exhaustive
searches for pieces of info here and there as our only other choice to find
the info. So we put together this site because we knew we were not the only people in the world with this circumstance. As much as possible, we have linked directly to sites that are primary sources of data, though in some cases we have had to compile from multiple sources when the primary was general and not diagnostic. We will post and link to more diagnostics as we find them. We have tried to make our sites simple by placing as much info as possible in a single chart to eliminate the aggravation of linking back and forth within a site for solo bits of info. You can use these charts to, for instance, quickly see if Ku is available on a certain satellite rather than wasting time looking for it while tuning your system. You can also look at footprints to see if you have tuned your dish to its best rather than wondering if the sparkles are your fault with lack of proper adjustment to inclination, declination, north/south and magnetic deviation or whether you are just not in the primary footprint for your size dish. Use these charts to see if what a salesman says is what you will receive; to see if you want to change/add services; upgrade your system; or sell it to your brother-in-law. You will notice we have purposely omitted listing of channel numbers and frequency info as that is available in detail at linked sites. Additionally, you will find subcarrier radio details in links to programming. We have not included any info on scrambling as that is also available in the programming links. Nor have we included transponder loading info concerning data transfers or other transponder useage applications that the average video user can not access and that includes S, L and X-band info. For history of satellites, launch info, amout of fuel, stabilization, expected life, etc., if it is not located at the link for specifications you will find that info in the 'interesting sites' links. Although this is a free service, you can still assist us. It really is difficult to keep up with everything (remember, only your mother-in-law is perfect), so please be in contact about omissions, typos, out of date facts, new info, current events, additional footprints, references to transponder loading, anything pertinent. If it can be located, we will compile and present it. Or, if you think of something we should included but have not, please let us know. If you would like to put us on your mailing list for press releases that pertain to keeping abreast of satellite industry news, we will be grateful. If you would like to link to this site, we are also grateful for such consideration and lease let us know as we are curious for feedback to our efforts. Thank you. (return to top of page) |
