Darling Darling : The show goes on
by Unni R.Nair
Rating: **** Paisa Vasul
Starring:Dileep, Vineeth and Kavya Madhavan
Music: Ouseppachchan
Director:Rajasenan
Director Rajasenan's Darling Darling is a clean entertainer that has proved to be a hit at all the releasing centres. With Dileep and Vineeth and Kavya Madhavan doing the lead roles, the film has appealed especially to the younger generation.Darling Darling tells the story of two youths Subhash Chandra Bose and Karthik alias Aniyankutty. Subhash Chandra Bose, called 'Kochchukurup' by his near and dear ones, is forced to leave his parents under certain circumstances and go to Bangalore where lives his dear friend Karthik alias Aniyankutty, a rich youth who lives in grand style.Aniyankutty spends his time flirting with girls, assisted by his caretaker cum friend cum well wisher Appachan, By strange coincidence, both Aniyankutty and Kochchukurup fall head over heels in love with the same girl Padmaja Warrier under totally different circumstances.
The problem with Kochchukurup is that he has never seen Padmaja, but they had talked over the phone and Padmaja too is passionately in love with him, of course without seeing him even once.Aniyankutty, who comes to know of this, turns selfish in his love and starts playing tricks to prevent both the lovers from coming together. Then on it is sort of hide and seek between the two lovers, with Aniyankutty moving hell and heaven to prevent their union. And the film thus moves to an interesting climax.Dileep as Aniyankutty is his usual self while Vineeth fits in the bill as Kochchukurup. It is rather heartening to see him playing such a full-length role after a considerable gap of time. Kavya Madhavan too does full justice to her role as Padmaja Warrier. Jagathy Sreekumar has done a brilliant job as Appachan.
All the others in the cast like Sharath, Oduvil Unnikrishnan, Janardhanan, etc have done full justice to their roles. Bobby Kottarakara, who passed away, recently has put in a cameo performance as part of the rowdy group 'Oachira Brothers' and Indrans too gives some amount of comic relief. The songs, especially the "Darling Darling nee enikkoru..." have been visualized in a manner that appeals to the younger generation. S.Rameshan Nair has penned the songs and Ouseppachchan has composed music, both of them have done good work of their job.Sreekar Prasad's editing is slick and keeping with the tempo of the film while K.P.Nambiathiri has given ample support with his excellent camera work. Premachandran's artwork too is a highlight of the film, which is sure to remain a favourite of the audience for quite some time.
