Fathom Has Preview Site

Fathom, a unique e-knowledge and interactive educational website created by Columbia in association with other leading academic and cultural institutions, can now be previewed at http://www.preview.fathom.com.

Fathom offers a wealth of authenticated content from renowned centers of learning, and also offers access to online courses and books. Drawing on the resources of its member institutions, Fathom's content includes on-line seminars, lectures, exhibits, and reference material-all of which is attributed to Fathom member institutions and their celebrated faculty, curators, and researchers.

This week the University of Michigan will become Fathom's newest partner, joining such other partners as the London School of Economics and Political Science, Cambridge University Press, The British Library, The New York Public Library, University of Chicago, the American Film Institute (AFI), RAND, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Victoria and Albert Museum, Science Museum (UK), and The Natural History Museum (UK).

"We are enthusiastic about Fathom's potential to project the unique character and resources of our partner institutions, and to demonstrate leadership in extending the valuable work of the faculty and other professionals to the global community on the Web," said Ann Kirschner, Fathom's president and CEO.
