HAMILTON 48, Edmonton 23
Danny McManus threw a pair of touchdown passes and running back
Archie Amerson passed for one score and caught a TD toss as the
Hamilton Tiger-Cats crushed the Edmonton Eskimos for the second
straight week, 48-23.
Hamilton (6-1) scored 38 second-half points en route to its
fifth straight victory. On Friday, the Tiger-Cats routed
Edmonton, 39-10.
McManus, a former Eskimo, hit slotback Mike Morreale with an
18-yard scoring pass 5:07 into the third quarter, putting
Hamilton ahead for good, 17-16.
Just over three minutes later, running back Ronald Williams
scored on a one-yard plunge. Amerson took a pitch from McManus
and fired a 7-yard touchdown toss to tight end Andrew Grigg to
open a 31-16 lead with 2:20 to go in the period.
The Ti-Cats continued the rout in the fourth quarter. McManus
found Amerson for an 89-yard TD just 86 seconds into the period.
A safety by Mike Philbrick, a single by Paul Osbaldiston and an
eight-yard touchdown run by Mike Cawley made it 48-16 with less
than four minutes to play.
Osbaldiston added three field goals to increase his
league-leading point total to 90.
Sean Fleming kicked three field goals and backup Marcus Crandell
threw a 65-yard touchdown pass to "Gizmo" Williams late in the
