While Star Trek has always traditionally been ignored by the mainstream awards shows when it comes to Acting, Writing and Directing, there's one area where Star Trek's worthy contributions don't get written off- Makeup and Hair.
The nominations for the Second Annual Hollywood Makeup and Hair Stylist Guild Awards were announced today, and Star Trek: Voyager nabbed a pair of nominations.
In the category of "Best Period Makeup - Television - (For a Single Episode of a Regular Series - Sitcom, Drama or Daytime)," last season's episode "Fair Haven" secured nominations for Makeup Artists Michael Westmore, Ellis Burman, Suzanne Diaz-Westmore, Tina Hoffman, James Rohland, Scott Wheeler and Natalie Wood.
Michael Westmore was also nominated (with Earl Ellis & Mary Kay Morse) for "Best Special Makeup Effects - Television - (Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television" for his work on the Pinocchio-inspired "Gepetto" on ABC. The telefilm also featured Brent Spiner (Data).
Voyager Hair Stylists Josee Normand, Charlotte Parker, Gloria Montemeyer and Viviane Normand were nominated for "Best Innovative Hair Styling - Television (For a Single Episode of a Regular Series - Sitcom, Drama or Daytime)" for the Voyager episode "Tsunkatse."
The Second Annual Hollywood Makeup and Hair Stylist Guild Awards Dinner and Presentation will be held on March 17 at Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Last year the Voyager took home two awards, both for Hair Styling.
