Graber Products
Acquires
Tune Corporation and Power-Tap Product Line!
MADISON,
WI, March 23, 2001 – Chris Fortune, President of Graber Products Inc.
parent company of Saris racks and Cycle-Ops trainers announced today the
acquisition of Tune Corporation and the Power-Tap product line. “Power-Tap represents a unique product offering in the
marketplace for cycling enthusiasts and all other health and fitness minded
cyclists around the world. Power-Tap
was introduced in 1998 and revolutionized the cycle training industry with a
relatively inexpensive, yet highly accurate and easy to use power measuring
cycling computer,” Fortune said in making the announcement.
The Power-Tap system includes a rear hub or complete rear wheel, computer,
receiver, heart rate chest strap, mounting hardware and literature.
The system functions include download memory of up to 7+ hours of ride
data, power display, heart rate display, discrete interval function, cadence,
speed, clock/elapsed time, total energy expenditure, odometer, and auto start
stop. Rear wheel installation and
removal with the Power-Tap system is made quick and easy because of the systems
unique wireless data transmission feature.
“Our
research confirms that the rear hub is absolutely the best and most logical
location in the whole geography of a bicycle to locate a power measuring device,
and the Power-Tap patented system architecture is extremely well designed.
Power-Tap has created a new standard in training technology that gives
enough information for the most scientific coach and yet is easy enough to use
for the citizen racer,” commented Chris Fortune.
“We also have the Power-Tap Link that is a key component to provide
comprehensive post ride analysis. The
Power-Tap Link is an advanced software application that allows riders to collect
up to 7+ hours of their performance factors every second (or every other second)
in the standard Power-Tap cycle computer and then after their ride, to download
their data from the Power-Tap computer to their Window’s compatible computer
for storage and post-ride analysis,” Fortune pointed out.
The
potential in the marketplace for the Power-Tap system and the Power-Tap Link
software package and all of its related technology is very substantial, and
Chris Fortune concluded that “Graber Products sees a huge opportunity for all
the Power-Tap products and intellectual property and we also see a lot of
synergy between Power-Tap and our Cycle-Ops trainer business.”
