TOKYO - Aiwa Co., Ltd. has introduced the AM-HX200 portable MD player, which features an extremely strong titanium body - the first in the Japanese audio market. As titanium is twice as rigid as aluminum, the AM-HX200 offers outstanding protection against knocks and scrapes.

In addition, the new model features MDLP long-time playback mode; a new program search function that automatically lists the names in Japanese kana order, allowing users to view the titles on the remote control unit's LCD panel for selecting a favorite song or programming up to 25 songs in any order; sentence repeat function that is convenient for students studying languages; and a battery charger for simple, easy charging.

The design of the AM-HX200 highlights the titanium's color. This fashionable unit is targeted at all age groups, from fashion-conscious preteens, teenagers, and youths to those in their 30s and 40s seeking high-quality sounds and convenient functions in their audio equipment.

Main Features

• Titanium body - the first ever in the Japanese audio market
  Titanium offers excellent rigidity, about twice that of aluminum. This protects the unit from being damaged, even by direct blows. The design highlights the unit's titanium body, reinforcing the feeling of strength.
• MD Long Play (MDLP) function plays back in stereo for a longer time in 4x and 2x speeds.
  MDs recorded in MDLP standard (LP4/LP2) can be played back.
• New program search function allows users to view titles on the remote control unit's LCD panel and select the desired song. This new function also displays the titles in Japanese kana order to facilitate the user's search.
• 25- track programming allows users to hear their favorite selections in the order they want.
• Sentence repeat function is convenient to play back MDs while studying languages.
  The function repeatedly plays back a sentence in between silent portions that are longer
  than 0.5 seconds up to nine times.
• Battery charger stand simplifies charging: Users merely place the unit on the stand to charge the batteries.
• Power-saving function to extend battery life
  When the main unit's "Hold" switch is turned to power save ON, the battery life can be extended when playing back an MD by turning off the display on the remote control's LCD.
• Long-time playback feature offers approx. 100 hours of continuous play (with power save ON when playing an MD in LP4 mode).
  The AM-HX200 provides approx. 100 hours of continuous play when using the
  rechargeable battery with an alkaline cell.
• High-power 16mW output
• 40-second/80-second (LP2)/160-second (LP4) skip-preventing memory in Electronic Anti-Shock System PLUS eliminates skips caused by shocks and vibration.
• Backlit LCD remote control unit with 10-character display
  The remote control unit's LCD makes it easy to read the disc title, track name and number, plus three-step battery level, and monitor the AM-HX200's operation status even in the dark. What's more, users can simply set the playback mode, music title search, alarm, ear guard function, and contrast with the multi jog dial. The remote control unit can also be attached to clothing with the clip provided.
• Convenient alarm functions
  The alarm is programmable from 1 minute up to 180 minutes, with a duration of up to 30 seconds. This convenient feature reminds users when their bus or train stop is coming up, and can help time workouts.
• Auto play function automatically plays back an MD when a disc is inserted in the unit.
• Resume function allows playback to restart from the point where it stopped.
