Cause of Korea's reunification supported abroad

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- An international organization and various countries supported the Korean people's cause of national reunification.
The 10th session of the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions in its resolution supported the appeal of the DPRK workers and people to have dialogue and negotiations between the north and the south in order to achieve the peaceful reunification of Korea and dispel the dark clouds of war from the Korean peninsula.
The Guinean Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification issued a statement supporting the appeal sent by the DPRK government, political parties and organizations to their counterparts all over the world. It demanded the South Korean authorities unconditionally dismantle the concrete wall, symbol of division and confrontation, at once, considering it a challenge to the conscience of humankind and a factor of instability on the Korean peninsula.
The committee voiced full support to and active solidarity with the Korean people in the struggle to achieve the country's reunification under the leadership of the great leader Kim Jong Il.
Martin Lotscher, chairman of the Swiss Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification, made public a statement supporting the appeal and said that the Korean people will surely pull down the disgraceful wall and wipe out the South Korean authorities who built it and reunify the country peacefully and independently.

S. Korean authorities' war moves

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The kernel of the "national defence policy guideline for 2000" set out by the South Korean "Ministry of National Defence" is to "establish a perfect posture to cope with the "threat from the north", observes Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary.
    The commentary goes on:
The hue and cry raised again by the South Korean ruling quarters over the fictitious "threat from the north" is aimed at justifying their war moves against the north and further escalating them.
The "national defence policy guideline for 2000" is precisely the other side of a prelude to a war of aggression against the north.
What merits a serious attention is the huge military budget shaped by them.
The South Korean ruling quarters are going to spend funds amounting to astronomical figures to step up preparations for a war against the north. This lays bare their true colors as trigger-happy elements.
The anti-north diatribe launched again by them over the "threat from the north", throwing cold water on the desire of the nation for reunification, disclosed once again their criminal design to divert elsewhere the attention of the angry people and, furthermore, start a war against the north at any cost, together with their master, the U.S., the commentary notes, and stresses:
We unequivocally state once again that we will not show any mercy or tolerance to the warmongers inside and outside South Korea who attempt to hurt us but will deal a deadly blow to them.

Struggle for reinstatement of democratic martyrs

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Council of Bereaved Families Members of the Martyrs for National Democracy expressed its firm will last December 30 to escalate the struggle for the reinstatement of the democratic martyrs and the probe into the truth behind the questionable deaths, according to a radio report from Seoul. Its members' 400 odd day-long sit-in forced the "National Assembly" to pass a "bill" reflecting their demands, the report said, adding they declared that their struggle would continue till their demands have been met.

Korea's reunification is supreme task of nation

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- National reunification is the call of history and the supreme task of our nation which brooks no further delay, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
Reunification is the greatest desire of the Korean nation who has experienced immeasurable misfortunes and sufferings from the territorial division for over half a century, the article stresses, and continues:
The issue of national reunification is precisely the issue of putting an end to the outside domination and interference in South Korea, establishing the national sovereignty throughout the country, reunifying the divided nation and realizing national unity as one nation.
The continuation of national division has brought such a danger that national commonness between the north and the south may disappear and the nation may remain divided into two forever.
The South Korean authorities have stamped out all things national, left the country and the nation to the mercy of the outside forces and made American, Japanese and western way of life prevalent in all fields of politics, economy and culture under the pretext of "globalization," pursuing the subordinate "opening" policy.
The continuation of national division is bringing the holocaust of a nuclear war upon our fellow countrymen.
The dangerous military war exercises are being continuously staged in South Korea under the "operation plan 5027-98," the war scenario against the north, worked out by the U.S.
The north and the south will get nothing but national ruin from confrontation. All the facts prove that reunification is the unique way of the Korean people for existence and prosperity.
Patriots are those who set national reunification as the supreme task of the nation and strive for its realization and traitors are those who turn aside from the misfortunes and sufferings of the nation from the division and pursue personal comfort.
All the successive ruling quarters of South Korea were the anti-reunification elements. All the Koreans in the north, south and overseas will never pardon the South Korean ruling quarters who, blinded by luster for power and personal luxury and glory, oppose reunification decisive of the life and death of the nation.
All the compatriots in the north, south and abroad will surely achieve the cause of national reunification by making a vigorous grand reunification march with firm confidence in reunification.

Japan's move to possess aircraft carriers

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- Nishimura, former vice-director general for political affairs of the Japan Defense Agency, was recently reported to have claimed at a seminar held in Tokyo that "Japan should possess aircraft carriers."
Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary terms his remark as the one reflecting the ulterior intention of the Japanese ruling quarters, not his own idea.
    The commentary continues:
Nishimura has been playing a special role as a mouthpiece clarifying any issue which the ruling quarters hesitate to disclose to the world.
He sparked public furore when he asserted at an interview with a monthly magazine last October while he was in office that it is advisable for "Japan to have nuclear arms" and Japan should expand the "greater east Asia coprosperity sphere" worldwide.
Nuclear armament, expansion of the "Greater East Asia Coprosperity Sphere" and possession of aircraft carrier, and so on, uttered by him represented an action plan, a follow-up of the Japanese ruling quarters' imperialist plan for aggression.
Japan, regarding nuclear weapons as almighty for revival of the old empire that controlled colonies, is fully ready to become a nuclear power any time and restored the right of belligerency and the right to participate in a war, both of which had been banned by the constitution after its defeat, thus legally paving the way for a war of overseas aggression.
It is escalating the moves to beef up and modernize the maritime and air forces and has already rounded off material and technical preparations to build aircraft carrier.
Japan, camouflaged as a pigeon, has thrown off its mask and is about to emerge as a nuclear eagle.
A lesson to be drawn from the remarks of Nishimura is that the world people should heighten vigilance against the Japanese militarists' preparations for a war of aggression and the Japanese reactionaries' nuclear armament and war of aggression lead to self-destruction. Warning Japan that if its black eagle flies for overseas aggression, carrying nuclear weapons, its whole territory will suffer the same disaster as Hiroshima did, the commentary stresses: The denuclearization and peace is the only way out for Japan's survival.

Collapse of capitalist system termed as inevitable

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- Inevitable is the collapse f the capitalist system, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
Noting that the capitalist system began to fall more rapidly last year owing to a financial crisis, the article says: The financial crisis which racked brazil in January last year swept the American continent, hard hitting the capitalist system once again.
The purchasing power of the developing countries decreased and economy went bankrupt. As a result, strongholds of capitalism called markets fell down like a sodden wall. Contradiction and antagonism among capitalist powers were further aggravated.
The developing countries, hard hit by the financial crisis, lost the chance of economic recovery and found themselves ridden with snowballing debts while the capitalist powers were locked almost every day in the scrambles to have to themselves more capitalist markets and establish economic domination.
Last year the United States and the west were keen on seizing Japan's markets rather than helping Japan recover its economy which was on the danger line owing to rising yen against dollar. Meanwhile, at the "new round" of negotiations held by the capitalist powers, Europe and Japan challenged the United States in a bid to overcome their crisis.
The political and economic crisis did not bottom out even a bit in the countries where capitalism revived and the relations between those countries and the capitalist powers began to go back to the state of the Cold War.
Contradiction got worse among the capitalist countries.
Nothing can save the capitalist system from its collapse and its worsening crisis.
Modern imperialism is struggling tooth and nail to escape from the lot of ruin but it is nothing but a last-ditch effort.
It is a stark reality that imperialism is going to ruin.
People are sure to see the downfall of capitalism.

Nullification of S. Korea-Japan "fisheries accord" urged

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- Nine organizations of South Korea including the Center for National Studies and the Federation of Press Trade Unions on December 30 last year decided to wage a signature campaign demanding the nullification of the traitorous South Korea-Japan "fisheries accord," a Seoul-based radio said.
These organizations decided to form a group for the declaration on sovereignty over Tok Islet with inhabitants of Ulrung Island and hold a ceremony on Tok Islet for the declaration and wage a massive signature campaign for the nullification of the "accord."

Glorifying 2000 as year of fresh turn in national reunification movement

Pyongyang, January 6 (KCNA) -- The central committee of the National Democratic Front of South Korea (NDFSK) issued an "article addressed to all the people on the occasion of the New Year 2000" in Seoul on January 1.
    It said:
The anti-Japanese forerunners of Mt. Paektu liberated the country on August 15, 1945 at the cost of blood but due to the U.S. aggressors' occupation of South Korea under the pretext of disarming the Japanese the Korean nation was divided into the south and the north and the South Korean people were subjected to colonial slavery.
Over the last half a century the people have fought hard to carve out their destiny. Especially the last five years have witnessed a rapid upsurge in their movement for independence, democracy and reunification.
In the New Year which will be brilliantly recorded in the history of the Korean nation as a year of the sun Kim Jong Il the people of all social standings are invested with the important task to open an epochal phase of the sacred struggle for independence, democracy and reunification, the article notes, and goes on:
Independence against the U.S. is a key co-ordinate of the revolutionary movement in South Korea and it is a top priority fighting task of this year's national movement for democracy.
The people of all social standings should turn out as one in the anti-U.S. struggle for independence, clearly mindful that the U.S. is neither our neighbor nor friend but an aggressor and enemy.
Democracy against fascism is an urgent task to be fulfilled in the national movement for democracy this year.
The people from all walks of life should topple the dependent and fascist traitorous Kim Dae Jung regime and turn out in a sacred struggle to establish a truly independent and democratic government.
The country's reunification is a national task on whose fulfillment hinges the destiny of all the fellow countrymen.
The patriotic-minded people of all social standings should escalate the reunification movement this year to make the year 2000 as a year of fresh turn in our nation's history of the country's reunification.
All the pro-reunification and patriotic-minded forces should escalate the nationwide struggle to hold fast to and implement the three-point charter of national reunification, a reunification programme common to the nation, and realise the great cause of national reunification in foreseeable future without fail.
All the patriotic pro-nation, pro-democracy forces should cherish in mind the faith in certain victory in the struggle for independence, democracy and reunification and thoroughly arm themselves with the Juche idea, the guiding ideology of the revolutionary movement in South Korea, and bring greatness of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Il home to the people of all social standings and steadily expand and close the fighting ranks.
They should unite as one under the banner of independence, democracy and reunification to form a broad-based national democratic front for reunification.
All the people should become satellites and stars defending Kim Jong Il and hold him in high esteem in the plaza of reunification without fail in the new millennium.
