Global Hawk Partners

Global Hawk was developed by Teledyne Ryan Aeronautical, now the Northrop Grumman Ryan Aeronautical Centre, an aviation pioneer and innovator for more than seven decades.

Global Hawk was developed in 1995 as an advanced concept technology demonstrator for the US Air Force. An advanced concept technology demonstrator is a rapidly developed prototype that the military can use for assessment and early operational activities.

The Australian Defence Organisation's Royal Australian Air Force and Defence Science and Technology Organisation are working closely with the US Air Force and Northrop Grumman Ryan Aeronautical Centre under a four-year agreement called Project Arrangement 13 to evaluate and further develop Global Hawk as an airborne surveillance system. Global Hawk will deploy to Australia from April to June 2001 as part of this collaborative project.
