Response to Timothy Garton-Ash
John Williams
The political establishment's response in a greater tragedy than the bombing itself.

Modified, Timothy Garton-Ash's first scenario for the conclusion of the post-cold-war era is most realistic. European submissiveness to United States impulsive conduct of her foreign policy will result in her international relations hegemony being consolidated by default. It will witness United States entry into isolationism camouflaged by a veneer of intensified international co-operation. The European members of Nato acceptance of the North Atlantic Treaty's article five, committing them to assist any one of their member in the event of that member being perceived to be under attack, is a harbinger of things to come.
