The following tech demos were developed prior to the Game Developers Conference in March to show the initial power of the Xbox system. These demos represent only 10% of the Xbox power and should not be considered as future gaming titles.

Ping Pong: An amazing room filled with several hundred mousetraps loaded with ping-pong balls. By throwing an additional ping-pong ball anywhere in the room, all mousetraps will trigger as part of a physics chain reaction. The result captures a scene of utter ping-pong ball chaos. The incredible power of the Xbox processor drives the physics model, while rendering the scene at more than 60 frames per second.

Butterflies: A highly detailed garden scene, with a large reflecting pool. As you admire the serenity of the Japanese garden and Koi pond, butterflies begin to appear. The Butterflies demo exhibited over one thousand butterflies fly into the scene displaying dynamic shadowing and reflections.

Desk Toys: An interactive animated desktop full of toys. By moving the camera view around the desktop, amazing dynamic lighting, shadowing effects, and reflected surfaces are apparent in a photo-realistic scene.

Raven: An athletic woman and robot doing a Taebo routine. The Raven demo showed off character animation, with a very high poly count model, in real time. We also added reflection maps, self-shadowing, and direct music.
