MATERIALS: Bear Brand, Fleisher's or Botany Machine Washable Spectator Yarn, 19 (20) 2 oz. balls. Crochet hook Size I. Crochet hook size G or sizes required to crochet to gauge.
GAUGE: 10 sts=3", 10 rows=3" (Size I hook and 2 strands of yarn). 4 sts =1" (Size G hook and 2 strands.)
NOTE: Use 2 strands throughout.
BODY OF SWEATER: Row 1 (right side): With size I hook, ch 161 (173) for lower edge, work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc in each remaining ch, 160 (172) sc. Ch 1, turn.

SLEEVES. Row 1 (right side): With Size I hook, ch 26 (28) for cuff edge, work sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch to end, 25 (27) sc. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 2 through 10: Work 1 sc in each sc.
Row 11 (inc row): Sc in first sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * to end-37 (40) sc. Ch 1, turn.
Rows 12 through 16: Work 1 sc in each sc.
Row 17 (inc row): Sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in each sc to within last 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last sc-39 (42) sc. Ch 1, turn. Repeat last 6 rows 5 times more-49 (52) sc. Work even until 17" from beg, or desired length to underarm.
Next Row: Sl st in each of first 5 sc, sc in each of next 39 (42) sc. Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc in each sc.
Next Row (double dec row): Draw up a loop in each of first 2 sc, yo and through all 3 loops on hook, draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc, yo and through all 3 loops on hook (2 sc dec made), sc in each of next 31 (34) sc, dec 2 sc over last 4 sc. Ch 1, turn. Dec 2 sc each side every 2nd row 3 times more, then dec 1 sc each side every 2nd row three times, then dec 1 sc every row three times-13 (14) sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams and back edges of collar. Sew collar to back neck edge. Sew in sleeves; sew seams.
Band: Row 1: With size G hook, ch 7. Work sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch-6 sc. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Working in back loops only, work sc in each sc to end. Ch 1, turn. Repeat Row 2 until band is 74" long, or long enough to fit along front and collar edges. Fasten off. Sew to front and collar edges.
Belt: Work same as band until 50" from beg. Fasten off.
Pockets: Make two. Row 1: With size G hook, ch 29. Work sc in 2nd ch from hook and each remaining ch-28 sc. Work as for band until 7" from beg. Fasten off. Sew pockets on as illustrated.
