OUTLOOK: After enjoying a break-out year in 2000, Yamini is expected to once again be a force for the Trojans at middle linebacker … an all-star candidate … packs powerful punch and has tremendous knowledge of the game.

2000: An honorable mention All-Southland Football League performer, Yamini started every game for the Trojans at middle linebacker … led the team with 120 total tackles, including 11 tackles for loss (47 yards) and a team-high six sacks … second on the team with 19 QB hurries … ranked third in the SFL in tackles, third in fumbles forced and fifth in sacks … set a career-high and an SFL single-game high for the season with 19 tackles against Sam Houston State on Oct. 21 … recorded double figures in tackles in eight of 11 games played … Had 16 tackles against Northwestern State on Oct. 7 … recorded 10 solo tackles twice, against Northwestern State and Nicholls State on Oct. 28 … also had two sacks for a loss of 10 yards vs. Nicholls State.

1999: Made 18 tackles, 14 solo, while playing both at linebacker and on special teams . . . also recovered a key fumble on a kickoff return in the win over South Florida, with the Trojans scoring on the following play from scrimmage.

1998: Redshirted.

PREP: Played three seasons at Lakeside High School in Atlanta for coach Phil Lindsey … recorded 147 tackles as a senior, including four sacks, and had two interceptions and two fumble recoveries as well … earned first-team all-state and first-team all-city honors as a senior … was voted team MVP as a senior.

PERSONAL: Born on Dec. 24, 1979, in Atlanta, Ga. … son of Janice Yamini … has two siblings, Mikal and Najah … majoring in information systems.
