A drinking thinking wandering Canuck, living in Korea, trying like hell to keep his head from exploding. Nobody wants to see that.

This isn't really a weblog, and isn't a diary either. It's about Korea, not about my life, my ideas, or the funny way my shoes smell sometimes. Since I talk about Korea here, and Korea can be very annoying indeed, I probably sound like more of a curmudgeon than I really am.

That said, I am a grumpy old bastard.

'Waeguk' (weh-gook) means 'foreigner' in Korean.

An amusing page 3 picture in the Korea Times this morning, with a lineup of men at the Hankook Ilbo Building in Seoul, holding placards reading (romanized for your reading pleasure) : Tambae Soebi ChaChu. This translates, more or less, into "The Beginning of the Era of Smokers' Rights".

Apparently the members of the Korea Smokers' Association were protesting for their right to smoke in a ceremony marking Tobacco Consumers Day.

I'm not making this up.
