#020 Raticate
Pokédex Info
Type 1: Normal
Type 2: -
Height: 2' 04"
Weight: 41.0 lb
Its hind feet are webbed. They act as flippers, so it can swim in rivers and hunt for prey.
Catch it in:

Evolved from: Rattata (at level 20) Evolves into: -
Locations: Evolve a Raticate from a Rattata, or catch it in Blue/Red on Routes 16, 17, 18 and 21, or in Yellow on Routes 9, 11, 16, 17, 18, 21 or in the Pokemon Mansion.
This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques:
LV 01 - Tackle
LV 01 - Tail Whip
LV 07 - Quick Attack
LV 14 - Hyper Fang
LV 27 - Focus Energy
LV 41 - Super Fang
Tips: Raticate has the same problems as its pre-evolved form, such as low defense and a low Special rating, but it packs rather high Attack stats for a level 20 Pokemon. So it's all about a quick attack and a short battle. Be sure to use Quick Attack to get the first hit in (especially when you're low on HP) and be sure to learn the powerful Super Fang, which reduces your opponent's HP by 50%! Super Fang is especially useful when dealing with high-HP opponents, like Chansey or Exeggutor. If you're planning to train a powerful Raticate, don't evolve your Rattata until it hits level 34 (when it learns Super Fang).

Raticate is a Normal type Pokemon, which means it doesn't really have any particular strengths. On the downside, it's got the same three annoying disadvantages, which you can exploit if you're up against a lot of Normal types. Normal techniques like Hyper Fang and Tackle are weak against Rock types and can't hit Ghost Pokemon at all. Yep, it's true. These attacks go through Ghosts like they don't even exist. On the defensive side, a good Fighting Pokemon like Hitmonlee can take out an equal-level Normal Pokemon in no time. Remember that when you go up against Raticate -- or simply bring in a faster, more powerful elemental Pokemon with higher Attack stats.
