Bioprocess
Research and Development (BPR&D) is a multidisciplinary area that plays
an integral role in the development of all biologically made products in
the MRL pipeline. Our role is to supply clinical materials for human studies,
develop economical, scaleable processes and transfer them to Manufacturing,
develop analytical assays for product release and characterization, and
develop regulatory packages required for product licensure.
Many types of biological products are currently under development including
vaccines, therapeutic proteins, natural products, gene therapies and key
intermediates for chemical synthesis.
BPR&D is located at the Rahway, NJ and West Point, PA sites, housed
in state-of-the-art research facilities. Scientists and engineers at both
sites work on fermentation, cell culture and downstream processing of vaccines,
gene therapy products and therapeutic proteins. In addition, the West Point
group also focuses on the analysis and characterization of biological products
and the Rahway group develops processes for natural products and bioconversions.
Our researchers work together in various project teams in a fast paced and
stimulating environment, and are encouraged to publish and present their
work. There are also abundant opportunities for professional growth within
the Department and throughout the Company.
BPR&D consists of BS, MS and PhD engineers and scientists who have diverse
backgrounds such as chemical and biochemical engineering, biochemistry,
microbiology, virology and chemistry, as well as laboratory and pilot plant
operations. If you have a strong background in any of these areas and a
desire to help make products that save human lives, submit
your resume to be considered for the exciting career opportunities available
in MRL Bioprocess Research & Development. |
