BSc HONS COMPUTER SYSTEMS - STUDY PROGRAMMES

You will normally study eight module each year. Three of the modules on your course can be chosen freely from any subject area in the University. We encourage students to take a great deal of responsibility for choosing their own course and managing their own work. Emphasis is placed on teaching you how to learn and providing you with adaptable skills which can be applied and developed further in your professional career.You will encounter a range of teaching and assessment styles; individual and group work, studio, laboratory and seminar discussions; report writing, presentations, and displays. For an honours degree you undertake an individual project or special study in your final year.

First year programme:
Business and Enterprise Skills
Systematic Programming (double module)
Information Systems Fundamentals
Mathematics for Computing
Computing Machines
Computer Applications or Business Information Technology 1
Plus one more module which can be a completely free choice of any module offered by the University.
 
Second year programme:
Software Engineering
Professional Skills and Group Project
Systems Development Tools and Techniques
Microcomputer Systems
Systems Programming
Operating Systems
Plus one more module from the list below and a free choice module (which may also be from this list).

  • User Interface design
  • Computer Communications
  • Advanced Programming

Final year programme:
Computer Systems Project (double module)
Computer Systems Design
Concurrent and Real Time Software Design
Computer Project Management
