Lorenz and Colossus

The rebuild of Colossus, the world’s first programmable electronic computer. Colossus was built to speed up the breaking of the Lorenz cypher. It was a key factor in the outcome of D-Day.

This former stable block was converted to garages during the war. The centre one was extended to accommodate the Rover belonging to Alastair Denniston, the first head of wartime Bletchley Park.

The Mansion

In 1883, Bletchley Park became home to Sir Herbert Leon, a London financier. He added to the mansion considerably during his life there. The curious mixture of architectural styles reflect his changing tastes.
