Portal -

Portals are web pages that have links to lots of different web pages and resources, usually customizable to your location and preferences. You can usually get your local news, sports, weather, etc. from them and they're designed to be a starting point for your web adventures.

In addition, most portals are either run by a search engine or have some type of web search included. Yahoo! is a good example of a search engine portal.
