Good things come in small packages. Such is the case with Space Time Foam's Chase Ace 2, an action/arcade style game that literally explodes off of the screen.

More Gameplay and Graphics:

Finally there are simply tons of power-ups which one can find, most of which are hidden in boxes throughout the arena. Players can outfit their ships with machine guns, lasers, drunken missiles, rockets, force-fields, mines and more! Another nice touch of the game is the fact that even the most powerfully-outfitted ship can get destroyed in the blink of an eye if not careful. Players who have just destroyed an enemy ship should take care not to be anywhere near the explosion. This can kill outright or reduce shields to zero! When explosives such as mines are detonated the same rules apply, and woe betide those who get caught up in a huge chain reaction! One ship explodes, setting off three mines nearby, killing another ship, etc. Great was the fact that players can kill enemies in creative ways. Sometimes shooting wasn't as fun as pushing ships into space, getting them squished in a crusher or blasting them backwards into the middle of a minefield.

The graphics of the game are crisp and lively. The explosions are phenomenal. Players will literally think they're in a war zone. The music is reason enough to buy the game immediately. Players can choose between rocking Techno or Funk tracks, or a random jukebox mode. The game offers players a choice between three levels of difficulty and over 30 challenging arenas. Some arenas such as "Black Hole Disturbance" can be simple and fun, while others such as "Caterpillar Hooliganism" are huge, complex and full of booby-traps. Even the enemy AI can be tweaked, so players can make the turrets and ships as cream-puff or as hardcore as they wish. That's not all! Players can tap into the level-editor that comes with the game and design their own arenas of death. The official Chase Ace 2 Website also offers (free of charge) extra ships, levels, and more for those who have purchased the game,

Chase Ace 2 features two multi-player modes, the first of which has been designed for play on the same computer. Much like a two-player console game, the screen will split into two halves and each player will control the action on his part of the screen. The second type of multi-player mode is via IPX connection. This is perhaps the game's most serious flaw, in that the designers chose to go with such an outdated connection interface.

Pros: Great graphics, wonderful explosion effects, dynamic sound, INCREDIBLE soundtrack.
Cons: With sound this good you're liable to blow out your speakers.
Pros: Smooth and easy play control, addictive gameplay, level editor, tons of replay value.
Cons: IPX Multiplayer makes multiplayer a chore to set up and get working.

Chase Ace 2 is a fantastic little game that packs more punch than most of the big-budget action games out there. Chock full of customizable options, enemies and weapons, the game is sure to keep players coming back for more. To say that the game has replay value is an understatement. One level is enough to satisfy a hardcore gamer for an entire session, never mind the fact that there are over 30 more! If you are a fan of arcade action, then pick this game up at ChaseAce.Com. For only $19.50 the game could be the best value for money deal since a subscription to Playboy Magazine.
