Welcome to the UK Biodiversity website, which aims to support the implementation of the UK Biodiversity Action Plan and the partnership involved in biodiversity conservation. The six main objectives of the website are:

  • Promoting understanding and engagement
  • Inform of recent developments
  • Communication of best practice

From here you can: Find out about UK biodiversity by accessing the local, species and habitat action plan summaries; look at the contacts list; download reports, guidance notes, news and documents from the library; and explore the factors (keywords) affecting the decline of species or habitats.

The website has been updated with the latest information on Local Biodiversity Action Plans, including some new ones. Click here to view the updated pages.

  • An Initial Investigation of the Actual Costs of Implementing UK Biodiversity Action Plans, a new report which provides up-to-date information on the costs of implementing a number of the Tranche 1 UK Biodiversity Action Plans
  • Business and Biodiversity- a website written for organisations to help them understand biodiversity and its impact on buisness. It details how sectors can make a contribution to conserving UK biodiversity.
  • UK Clearing House Mechanisim- (revised October 2001) has useful links to international conventions and information on UK support of the Convention of Biodiversity.
