Firm History

Delaware offers you over 68 years of investment management experience, covering all kinds of economic, political and market environments.

Our First Mutual Fund
Our first mutual fund was introduced in 1938 and since then Delaware has pioneered a number of investment strategies. Best known for its dividend-oriented style of equity investing, Delaware was among the first to offer small company stock funds, single-state municipal bond funds, high-yield corporate bond funds, and short- to intermediate-maturity government bond funds.

Though we place high regard on innovation, Delaware offers new investment strategies only when convinced they are fundamentally sound, meet the needs of today's investors and are able to stand the test of time.

Our Founder

Delaware Investment's founder, Admiral W. Linton Nelson, believed that one of the best ways to make money in the investment markets was not to lose it. This belief is the cornerstone of Delaware's investment philosophy. Though our funds have varying degrees of risk and reward potential, even our most aggressive funds make risk management a high priority.
