ATHERTON, Calif. - Former University of Nebraska standout Elmer Dohrmann died Thursday at age 84 because of complications from kidney failure. Dohrmann, who was born in Staplehurst, Neb., has won the most letters in NU history with three apiece in football, baseball and basketball, and two in track. Dohrmann also served for 18 years as chairman for the East-West Shrine game selection committee. In 1962, Sports Illustrated honored Dohrmann as a member of its Silver Anniversary All-America team. The award went to college standouts who were successful in their chosen industry 25 years following their conclusion in college athletics. Dohrmann served as an executive at IBM. |
