SUNSTONE SYMPOSIUM WEST
CALL FOR PAPERS
April 28-29, 2000

Sunstone Symposium West, at the L.A. Airport Hilton on April 28th (plenary session in evening) and April 29th (all day), is looking for papers dealing with topics relating to Mormonism -- contemporary issues, Mormon history, Mormon humor, personal essay. Ideas for panels are encouraged. Subjects relating to the Mormon experience in Los Angeles and California are encouraged.

Please send paper proposals to Brian Madsen at BCMadsen@earthlink.net or at P.O.Box 102, Carpinteria, CA 93014-0102.

Complete papers for accepted proposals should be submitted at least by April 20th (or earlier if possible) so respondents have time to read and formulate their responses.

SYMPOSIUM PURPOSE:
THIS SYMPOSIUM is dedicated to the idea that the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ are better understood and, as a consequence, better lived when they are freely and frankly explored within the society of the Saints.

WE RECOGNIZE that the search for things that are, have been, and are to be is a sifting process in which much chaff will have to be inspected and threshed before wheat can be harvested.

IN SPONSORING this symposium, we welcome the honest ponderings of Latter-day Saints and their friends and expect that everyone will approach all issues, no matter how difficult, with intelligence and good will.
