'Bachelor' Conquers All on Wednesday
Thu, Nov 21, 2002 12:31 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002

True love -- or at least "The Bachelor's" version of it -- ruled the ratings Wednesday night, sweeping ABC to the top spot.

For the night, ABC averaged a 13.7 rating/21 share, handily beating second-place NBC, 10.4/16. CBS, 5.7/9, was third, followed by FOX, 4.7/7. UPN averaged 3.8/5 in the metered markets, edging The WB, 3.7/5.

ABC also had a huge lead in the adults 18-49 demographic, posting a 9.7 rating. NBC averaged 5.1, FOX 3.3 and CBS 3.0.

NBC's "Ed" won the 8 p.m. hour with a 9.0/14, its best performance of the season. ABC took second with "My Wife and Kids," 8.4/14, and "George Lopez," 8.3/13. "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Cedric the Entertainer Presents" averaged 5.2/8 on FOX, slightly ahead of CBS' "Amazing Race." UPN was fifth with "Enterprise," 4.8/7, while The WB's "Dawson's Creek" was sixth.

"The Bachelor" took over at 9 p.m., averaging 15.2/22 for the first half of its two-hour finale. The politicians of "The West Wing," 10.2/15, took second for NBC over the supermodels of the "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show," 7.2/11, on CBS. "Fastlane" finished fourth for FOX. The WB's "Birds of Prey," 3.4/5, was fifth over UPN's "Twilight Zone."

The climactic proposal on "The Bachelor" elevated ABC to 17.6/28 at 10 p.m., beating NBC's "Law & Order," 12.1/19, and CBS' "60 Minutes II," 4.7/7.

  • Ratings information provided is from fast national data, except for UPN and The WB, which are taken from the overnight metered markets (the top 53 markets across the country). All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.
