Silent Hill 2
tanis@22:33 - 2002.11.12
I've finally found the time to play and finish Silent Hill 2 on the PlayStation 2.
It's been ages since I last played an adventure that caught me like Silent Hill 2. The horror atmosphere, musics, and the weird story, all drew me into that wacky place that is called Silent Hill.

I thought that a PS2 would never be able to race against PCs in the fields of adventure games, but I was wrong. Silent Hill 2 led me into a totally different place and has awarded a place in my collection.

If you want to learn more about Silent Hill 2, go to this informational site: http://www.silenthill2.com/

Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
tanis@00:45 - 2002.10.31
I have started playing Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on my PlayStation 2. It's a great game. It reminds me a lot the old Golden Axe, one of the nicest action game on arcade machines.
User interface is easy to follow and controlling your character is something trivial. Thumbs up for EA that has scored a good hit with this title.
This game also features a lot of cutscenes from the movie and it's really worth a try.

BMX XXX
tanis@22:54 - 2002.10.20
I should not even consider talking about BMX XXX from Acclaim, but I cannot exempt from saying a few words about it. Even Penny Arcade talked about that game.
It seems like Acclaim after the strong identity marketing conducted for Turok has got another brilliant idea. This time they decided to include boobies in a BMX game and let the people all around the world to the marketing for them. I am doing that right now, too. A lot of rumours have been spent around this game and there's a lot of talking going on, even in videogames magazines. I wonder how much BMX XXX is going to sell at the end. I guess I'll be one of the buyers anyway icon_smile.gif

Blame Bioware!
tanis@23:42 - 2002.10.13
Patch 1.25 of Neverwinter Nights is out (to be precise 1.26 beta 1 is out) and still there is no support for saving persistent data.
I wonder why Bioware is not adding this feature?! icon_question.gif
A lot of people are asking for it, but it seems that no one is listening to our concerns.
If you're like me and do not like to wait for Bioware to do something useful, head over at NWN Persistent World Centre and have a few words with us.

NWN 1.25
tanis@19:21 - 2002.10.07
Patch 1.25 of Neverwinter Nights is coming along, and people is talking about the possibility of seeing the in-famous feature that would let us save information about characters in the save files. Let's see how it comes along, but I'm very disappointed that Bioware has not yet thrown in a function to save some variables to file.

Devastation
tanis@20:22 - 2002.10.06
The guys over at Arush have sent us some exclusive screenshots published on Multiplayer.it.
Go and have a look at them!
If you don't know about Devastation, it's a game using the Unreal Warfare engine, the same used by Unreal 2.
Tha main difference here is that Devastation is almost near to completion, while Unreal 2 is still far from the release date. icon_wink.gif

Unreal Tournament 2003
tanis@21:09 - 2002.09.27
GoneGold is reporting that Unreal Tournament 2003 is now GOLD, but no real news has been spread about it. After playing the demo for a few days, I can say that the game runs smooth on a middle-level box. I'm still think ing that it completely lacks design and new ideas, though icon_sad.gif

Online Games Resource Guide
tanis@09:13 - 2002.09.19
For those of you who are working on MMOGs or who would like to, there's a new guide at Gamasutra called Online Games Resource Guide.
It includes a serie of articles dealing with distributed objects, how to implement stories in MMOGs, SQL backend design, creating effective groups and creating music for MMOGs. It's definitely worth a look.

Unreal Tournament 2003 demo
tanis@01:13 - 2002.09.16
As you should already know, Unreal Tournament 2003 demo is out. Only two days have passed and people are already upset for the voices in the game and for a few problems with some gfx cards.

I played UT2003 a little this weekend.. oh well.. it's exactly how I would have seen Quake 4. Nothing new in the scene, just a real good engine with no game design.

So, if you don't want to waste time on UT2003, download Earth & Beyond Public Test Client and have some real fun with the latest MMOG from Electronic Arts

The Gladiators
tanis@17:38 - 2002.09.10
Prepare for "The Gladiators", the latest game from Arxel Tribe. It seems to be the first action-oriented RTS in its genre. During an interview with the developer he said to me that they made something really new for what concerns the multiplayer aspect of RTS. They've taken the best elements of Quake 3 and mixed them with the RTS genre. Keep your eyes open since I'm going to release the transcript of the interview on Multiplayer.it in a few days.

Back from ECTS
tanis@15:03 - 2002.09.04
Wow! I've got back from ECTS and it's about time I write an update on the site. I've been able to interview Jay Wilbur of Epic Games and developers from Arxel Tribe as well as Dino Dini himself who's going to release a new soccer game with the guys at Trecision (Hey! He's the man behind Kick Off, do you remember that?!)
