BERLIN - The Sixth Annual Venus, an adult entertainment international trade fair held Oct. 24-27, was attended by some 270 exhibitors representing 23 countries, 4,000 retailers and over 20,000 consumers, promoters said.
The climactic event of the fair was its awards show, which was swept by Private Media Group. Private received an unprecedented 10 awards, more than any other company.
Ninnworks' Perfect won the Venus for Best U.S. Movie, The Private Gladiator won for Best European Movie and Private contract performer Jodie Moore won the Venus for Best U.S. Actress.
Private's Rita Faltoyano and Monique Covet both picked up the Venus for Best European Actress, while Toni Ribas took home the Best European Actor Venus and director Antonio Adamo won a Venus for his body of Private work.
Private won three awards for its marketing strategies - one for Best German Product Campaign, a second for Best Internet Presentation (www.privatespeed.com) and a third for Innovation of the Year for the Private PDA technology.
Venus Awards are often presented to more than one person in each category, and thus, Digital Playground’s Tera Patrick also won a Venus in the Best U.S. Actress category. Taboo 2001, from Metro/Touch Video, was also a recipient of the Best U.S. Movie Award.
Other U.S. awards included Hustler for Best International Series [Barely Legal] and Andrew Blake and Pierre Woodman for Best U.S. Director.
Other porn luminaries in attendance included Hustler founder Larry Flynt and Max Hardcore, still reveling from the hung jury in his Los Angeles obscenity trial two weeks before.
