The Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD), an Executive Agency of the United Kingdom's Leave SiteDepartment for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, administers the regulation of agricultural, horticultural, forestry, food storage and  home garden pesticides.  The principal functions of PSD are to evaluate and process applications for approval of pesticide products for use in Great Britain and provide advice to Government on pesticides policy.

Our Aims are:

bulletand to ensure that methods of pest control are safe, efficient and humane

by providing effective controls on the sale, supply and use of pesticides.

12 February 2003 - Strobilurin and other QoI fungicide resistance management guidelines

Following the discovery of genes conferring resistance to the QoI group of fungicides (which include all strobilurins) in Septoria tritici, new guidelines on resistance management in cereals have been issued by the UK Fungicides Resistance Action Group.

31 January 2003 - Arrangements for the Approval and Regulation of Parallel Imports of Pesticides

New arrangements for parallel imports, both commercial and own use, to come into effect on 1 February 2003. Pesticide parallel imports are products purchased from markets outside the UK which are identical to products already approved for marketing and use in the UK.

29 January 2003 - Review of  Approvals for Products Containing 2,4-D, Triasulfuron and Thifensulfuron Methyl

This letter to all approval holders has been issued following new Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) legislation. We will be reviewing approvals of  products containing 2,4-D, triasulfuron and thinfensulfuron to see if approved uses would result in the new MRLs being exceeded.
