LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002

As has been the case each Wednesday night this season, NBC ruled the prime-time ratings race. Major league baseball's downtime before the World Series hurt FOX, which was forced to air reruns.

NBC averaged a 10.2 rating/17 share for the night, easily beating second-place ABC's 7.0/11. CBS, 6.2/10, was third, while FOX could managed only a 3.5/6. The WB averaged 4.3/6 in the metered markets, just ahead of UPN's 4.2/6.

Among adults 18-49, NBC led the way with a 5.1 rating, followed by ABC, 4.6, CBS, 3.2, and FOX, 2.3.

"My Wife and Kids," 8.5/14, and "George Lopez," 7.7/12, gave ABC a win at 8 p.m. CBS took second with "60 Minutes II," which beat NBC's "Ed," 7.3/12, by a slight margin. "Enterprise" averaged 5.1/8 on UPN. Repeats of "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Cedric the Entertainer Presents" averaged 3.8/6 on FOX, the same as "Dawson's Creek" on The WB.

NBC took the lead at 9 with "The West Wing," 10.6/16. "The Bachelor," 8.4/13, continued to woo viewers on ABC. "The Amazing Race 3," 5.7/9, put CBS in third, followed by "Birds of Prey," 4.6/7, on The WB. FOX was fifth with a "Fastlane" rerun, while "The Twilight Zone" averaged 3.2/5 for UPN.

At 10 p.m., NBC's "Law & Order," 12.7/22, was the most-watched show of the night. CBS' "Presidio Med," 5.3/9, and ABC's "MDs," 4.5/8, continued to fight uphill battles against the long-running cop show.

  • Ratings information provided is from fast national data, except for UPN and The WB, which are taken from the overnight metered markets (the top 53 markets across the country). All numbers are preliminary and subject to change.
