PiDiP : 1/2 EffecTV for PD Posted by: sevy on Saturday, January 04, 2003 - 06:11 AM GMT Objects
| So, after the pre-announcement, here it is now,
the partial port of EffecTV to PD is complete.
It's partial because some effects were left aside
either because they are clones of other ones ported
either because i was not seduced by them, sorry.
It's also because i want to work on other video objects
that are missing, hum, you'll see...
The library is called PiDiP and is available there :
http://ydegoyon.free.fr
It's linux only and you need to get ( and to load )
PDP first.

Malte Steiner PD research Posted by: edcarter on Thursday, December 12, 2002 - 06:19 PM GMT Everything
| During November, Malte Steiner worked on a Pure-Data residency at Access Space in Sheffield, England. The Hamburg-based digital audio artist ran very a well attended presentation and workshop, as well as producing a set of patches for users of Access Space to work with.
Access Space is England's first totally open-access media lab, using Linux and only free, open-source software, and recycled hardware. As a result of Steiner's work, Access Space now has a suite of machines running PD on Mandrake 9, with a series of workshops planned for the new year.
To see more about Malte's residency (including some excellent How To's), check out http://www.access.lowtech.org/e-gehirn.

JazzMutant Project Posted by: guillaume_largillier on Tuesday, December 03, 2002 - 11:40 PM GMT Everything
| Greetings,
My name is Franck Stofer and I am the owner of the experimental music record
label Sonore, from France, which released CDs such as Chris Brown’s “Talking
Drum”, Fuzzybunny’s 'Fuzzybunny', Carl Stone’s 'Nak Won' or Yuko Nexus6’s
'Journal de Tokyo' (more info at http://www.sonore.com). I am sending this letter to you today because I am representing a small team
comprised of Bordeaux-based musicians, sound engineers, programmers. They
are interested in expanding the use of Max/MSP and Pure Data. This team is called JazzMutant (Guillaume Largillier, Julien Olivier and Pascal Joguet - more info will be available soon at www.jazzmutant.com).
As with most Max-MSP / Pure Data programmers, their areas of interest are live
performances, algorithmic compositions, real-time interactions and sound
installations. At the same time, they are contributing to several
scientific projects within the SCRIME, an acoustic-music and computer
science research laboratory also based in Bordeaux.
Regurlarly facing tricky problems with real-time control and being
unsatisfied with standard solutions, they decided to conceive a dedicated
controller able to answer live performance needs. They have developed a
controller which is modular enough to adapt itself to a diversity of
instruments. It fully utilizes the tactile skills of the user, and is handy
and portable. Briefly, their product can be defined as a handy
touchpanel-based controller with all the necessary hardware and software to
setup, display and manipulate sophisticated user interfaces.
In order to finalize the controller development and to consider manufacturing an evaluation version in short-term, we need to collect from Max/MSP / Pure Data community, informations and suggestions to validate the relevance of our technological choices. Therefore we would be grateful if you could
contribute to our initiative by filling in the following questionnaire.
http://www.jazzmutant.com/form.html
For any comments or questions regarding JazzMutant project or the
questionnaire itself, don’t hesitate to contact us at info@jazzmutant.com
You can also subscribe to a JazzMutant newsletter which should be created
soon. Thanks for your time.
Best Regards,
Franck Stofer
