Sometime in the future, LucasFans will merge with Mojo to better serve both our and Mojo visitors. Mixnmojo goes LucasArts
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (0)

Spaff and Jake, two lucky guys from Mixnmojo, recently visited the Skywalker Ranch and LucasArts offices in California. The first part of their voyages is now published - go read it for some great descriptions and some brilliant photos about and from the inside of LucasArts!

Bill Tiller interviewed
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (1)

The Scumm Bar has conducted a very cool interview with a former LucasArts artist Bill Tiller. Bill worked on the art of The Dig, The Curse of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. The interview also includes unused pieces of art from The Curse of Monkey Island which are awesome. Go read it now!

Brave New World

Our move to Mixnmojo is over - we're finally settling in! Everything went smoothly, except for the forum (more on that later). All web pages should work normally as the directory structure didn't change in the move. The downloads are down for a while as I parse the FTP links. Our new e-mail address is lucasfans@mixnmojo.com - the old address will float around the site for a while until I catch all of them.

I installed a new PHP forum that's pretty cool. Go check it out, register and start postin'!

If you have any comments, questions or suggestions, feel free to mail me or leave a message at the forum!

Shields failing! All systems down!
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (3)

If you tried to access LucasFans during the last couple of days, you noticed that our servers were down. This was due to Adventure Gamer moving to a new domain. This change also means they will stop hosting us and the other sites in the AG Network.

I've been doing some early negotiations with Mixnmojo about moving there and adding LucasFans to the Mojo Network. Details about the move are still to be set and I'll let you know more once I know more myself. Stay tuned.

I wrote a short article about the common delusions brought up in the pre-E3 discussion lately. Read and think.

Racer 2 announced
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (3)

LucasArts has announced their fifth E3 title, Racer Revenge - Racer 2. This sequel to the Episode I racing game, scheduled for Q1/2002 release, is set eight years after the events of the first game and is developed by Rainbow Studios, whose previous titles include Motocross Madness and ATV Off-Road Fury. (Don't think I've heard of either one of those.) Two more announcements to go before E3 - where are all the original titles?

Obi-Wan re-announced for X-Box
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (0)

In an anticipated move, LucasArts has re-announced Obi-Wan and switched the release platform from PC to X-Box. The Obi-Wan project was closed down a while ago since LucasArts felt they couldn't keep up with their high quality standards - does this mean the X-Box title will be of an inferior quality, then? :) Six screenshots are available at the LucasArts E3 site. The next game announcement is expected tonight.

LucasArts E3 announcements
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (3)

Three "new" games have been announced in the last couple of weeks at the LucasArts website: Galactic Battlegrounds (a Star Wars strategy game using Microsoft's Age of Empires engine), Starfighter Special Edition for X-Box (a conversion of the Playstation 2 Star Wars title) and Escape from Monkey Island for Playstation 2. The Battlegrounds game was revealed a few months ago in the press release, and the EMI for PS2 was also made public before the E3 announcement, so the only "new" title so far is the Starfighter SE (which, of course, is not new but a port to another platform instead). Where's the fun in that??

More announcements are still expected in the weeks ahead. Hope one of them is a new adventure (and please let it be for PC!). Oh, and do check out the funny Monkey Island: The Phantom Menace picture on LucasArts.com!

Chat with EMI designers
Posted by Swordmaster - Comments (0)

LucasArts is holding another chat session with Sean Clark and Michael Stemmle, the designers of Escape from Monkey Island, to promote the release of the game's Playstation 2 version. The chat takes place this Friday (April 27th) at 6pm PST on LucasArts.com. (That's 1am GMT, me thinks.) The chat room opens an hour before the chat starts and you need to be a registered member at LucasArts.com to attend.

NEWS ARCHIVE

it's a lucasarts fact

LucasArts has gone through two name changes over the years. The company started as a small Lucasfilm off-shoot called Lucasfilm Games in the early 80's, changed the name to LucasArts Games in 1990 (and adopted the now-famous golden Lucas Man logo) and later changed the name to LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, which still remains as the official name.
